Wow! This is very concerning. Having a property owner trying to do the right thing and this happens? One would think the county should be happy to be working with a willing participant.

I just looked at the county's OSS compliance page. Their Red to Green Program has made progress, but seems to be occurring quite slowly. Compliance in the high priority Marine Recovery Area (MRA) is at about 40%. The goal was 60% by 2020. Let's agree that's a failure. So, why isn't there more effort to accelerate compliance? Seems to me all the time spent with this one site could have produced more progress with MRA and countywide compliance.

Is it too late for her to tell them she’s an illegal & this is a sanctuary city, county & state? She can then get free tax-payer money, be left alone & squat as many homeless do without any repercussions.

Of course it’s all “ho hum” as the city concerns… nothing to see here… as the stresses and financial deluge continue for this person🤦🏼‍♀️😔…

Thanks for the article Jeff

How is it even possible to navigate this "system"? With such enormous housing shortages everywhere - it seems the obstacles to any property owner are HUGE!!! I am aware that there are folks who intentionally built "shops" only to convert to ADUs but this seems beyond the pale - I cannot imagine dealing with all of these obstacles with any type of grace or dignity..... dammittohell!

No doubt bonnie. She should have asked for a variance by the commissioners if needed and it should have been granted as per clallam county.

Great article, Jeff! Thank you.

We had a similar experience in California. We had an architect design a passive solar home that also generated more electricity than it used. It was to be our retirement home overlooking the Mendocino coastline. After spending $50K on various geological, botanical, archaeological studies, and permits, we finally got the green light from the County planning and building department. Great!

But, a neighbor a tier back, who enjoyed an unobstructed view of the ocean didn't want her view spoiled, so she sic'd the Kalifornia Koastal Komission on us. They stopped our project with countless arguments-- we might be on the migratory path of the silver-spot butterfly (a moth!) who might need to rest on the property. The botanist and ecologist we hired pointed out that the moth could rest on our rooftop, if needed. After many months of DUPLICATE studies, that had already been completed and accepted, which incurred over $200K MORE in fees, they finally approved a much smaller home (negating the architect fees and engineering expenses we put into the design), and moved the building site a considerable distance away from the bluff, spoiling the view we had hoped for and that all the geological studies showed were unnecessary. Discouraged, we sold the lot with the new approval and ended up in Sequim.

And that, boys and girls, is how Communist governments work. Sequim and Kalifornia are far too much alike. We may have to move again.

You're welcome. What a nightmare you had in CA! But hey, it brought you here. You had better stick around for the fight; we need you :)

This country faces an epidemic of incompetence or corruption at every level, city, county, state, and federal. There is no in between, Incompetence or corruption. I’m not sure which is worse as they have both lead to collapse of the safety net that once made our system the envy of the world. Unfortunately nothing will change until the incompetence and corruption are met head on and made as public as possible. This is why the work Jeff Tozzer is doing is so important and necessary. Thank you Jeff for the diligent effort.

You're welcome. Thanks for reading. Are the articles getting longer? I'll try to shorten them. In the next article, I'll explain how photosynthesis works, step by painstaking step.

Such arrogance and personal power trips with many county personnel in several departments, and it needs to stop. It’s no wonder property tax paying citizens are agitated and pissed off when they have to endure“counter conversations” at the DCD department. Understanding what regs, county codes and correlations with other regs and the rat maze they put you through, It’s ridiculous. Again, the arrogance of some of the county personnel in several departments is outrageous. It’s no wonder people don’t want to go to the county to take care of certain issues on their property.

Sounds like Reed is against rentals, and working for environmentalists and the county. Maybe a little jealous of someone who has more than she does? Isn’t she supposed to work for the taxpayers?

And to think this mess stemmed from a renter putting stuff down the toilet that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. It’s a shame that

1. The tenant was irresponsible

2. The landlord didn’t just call to have the system cleaned out by a septic business and bill the tenant.

None of this would have happened. Too bad we can’t have a ‘do over’. Seems like there should be some kind of mitigation.

Its enough to make your blood boil. They show those in attendance, including J. Reed, that a king tide will wash out the Dungeness tip. Meanwhile, the longhouse and casino at Jimmycomelately and the Casino and housing on Elwha wont be taking the king tide hit. Furthermore, while they are putting the clamps down on this poor lady and elsewhere in the Dungeness, they are building a hotel and then a library where sea level rise just doesn't seem to be a problem. Political heads (careers) need to roll over this. These people need to go.

Look at the slide show in the link. They concentrate on and fear growth in the Dungeness River area. This link is priceless in furthering my theories on inconsistent river management. It is now clear the biggest reason for differential is based upon a planning decision to thwart growth in the Dungeness region and has very little to do with science. Her property is within that growth zone.

You know me, I am a broken record. Would this have happened if she was on the Jimmycomelately or Elwha river? No.

Is J Reed being instructed by the decision makers at the NODC? Yes.

Is J. Reed taking marching orders from the ICLEI? Yes.

This is communism in practice...these people are all 'liberally' trained and brainwashed to destroy the middle class which they are ignorantly a part of...when they have done their duty they will be done with...a Godless society...no moral/ethical values...just power tripping...and they are vested gov't employees with no reasonable way to get them out...the county is doomed under NWO...the only way would be a complete collapse of the system with the resulting period of chaos and mayhem until those with higher moral values managed to bring a balance...governments ALWAYS turn tyrannical on the people...so far as I can tell, no exceptions. Bless us, everyone. Truth, Justice, Liberty or die!

Could the Tribe be behind the misery they're causing this woman, hoping she will get frustrated (or broke) and sell to them for pennies on the dollar? Is the Tribe buying up distressed properties? (Hearsay alluded to that, and this could fit the pattern.)
