Agree with No One Important...the papers are leftist rags which censor free speech...(I've experienced it personally)...No tax support for the corrupt media....defund Ozias...Truth, Justice and Liberty prevail!
I couldn’t attend the county commissioners’ meeting this morning in person, but caught it on Zoom. Was glad there was no big push to ‘keep Towne Rd. a walking trail only’. I was happy to hear that the plan is to chipseal Towne Rd. That’s what they did on Lotzgesell the last time it was resurfaced. It’s true, it’s a bit rougher and louder to drive on, but it sheds water nicely, and seems to thaw faster when snowy or icy.
☺️ my personal opinion, chip seal is the best surface for roads in this area... Traction in season wide normal weather is better. It does exactly what you said and is generally easily repaired. (Though that does seem to be a dwindling art 🤣)
These leftist rags should die! Maybe more people would subscribe if they presented unbiased coverage, but they irritate conservatives to the point that many terminate their subscriptions and want nothing to do with them. I've even removed my shortcuts to them in my browser! Keep tax money out of them!
Its not just Conservatives they irritate. Though that is probably the majority, but more and more locals with personal experience in printed situations are seeing the bias or outright lies and irritated by it, as well as the refusal to print anything from certain people or information.
In case anyone is not aware, the two peninsula newspapers (PDN & Gazette) are Canadian owned. Has anyone gotten their opinion pieces in those papers if they differ from the current woke programs or if they dare to say anything negative about the Jamestown Tribe? I don't think so. To bail out these two papers would be no different than a government bailout for Bud Light. Wait, it's quite possible that's already happened! I boycotted those papers years ago and encourage everyone else to do the same.
I am so sorry. Nothing like accusations put out in public with no way to remedy the attack on your name. People who know you know who you are. Thank you for all you do for the community and also the memory care folks. Out here you are well known and respected and much appreciated.
They are true words. You have been honest and transparent in asking our County government to honor their oaths and operate with integrity and open communication. I have read comments on Next Door that not only violate their stated terms of service but are crude and divisive, particularly written by several whose only comments continually stir the pot on that platform. It is clear to me there is a good deal more going on with the Towne Road debacle. Time will tell. Please accept our collective thanks for all you do for those of us who see your tremendous efforts to bring accountability to Clallam County government, in spite of those whose arguments for special interests ignore the safety issues along with all the mess.
Nothing is too big to fail. I voted no. No government financial bailout for any newspapers! Thanks for the reminder to vote today, Jeff. Great information on the upcoming major issues.
No funding biased "news" papers. They either print the TRUTH or they go under like they should. Dislike certain commissioners trying to intervene, again, in things that benefit campaign contributors over citizens wishes. My 2 cents.
RE: Government support of the press. ABSOLUTELY NOT. We already have a compromised and biased mainstream media. They get their talking points/marching orders from the government. We should not pay with our tax dollars (remember, the government is funded by US) to further enable them. There is no freedom without a free and independent press.

I've asked to publish and op-ed, and was told I could purchase ad space at twice the rate because it was political. I see the Tribe's CEO was able to publish and op-ed, I wonder if he had to pay for it?
It was $1,250 for a 1/4 page ad (back in December) and once I sent the text about Towne Road they said it was political and would cost $2,500. This was days after they had published Bruce Emery calling the results of public comment a 49/51 split (when it was 45/55) and I'm pretty sure he didn't have to pay a penny for the paper to publish that. Sometimes I feel like I don't want to support the paper at all, but I still subscribe for the obits.
I never know whether to send it to the PDN or to keep it to bail me out of jail :) There is a Towne Road Update next week (on April Fool's)... maybe we won't need to run an ad if it's good news.
Jeff, when you are ready, I will contribute to your op-ed. I do so appreciate your investigative reporting on issues important to us in Clallam County and think your point of view is important and would be enlightening to many.
Is it me or are there now two bribes to get rid of Towne Road. One from the tribe who offered acreage. The other from Bonneville/Floodplain by design for 8 million?/
The first one is pretty easy: the Tribe is offering land in exchange for closing the road. The second one is tricky and riddled with misinformation from DLTA: Floodplains by Design, working under the state Department of Ecology, was the grantor of ~$8M. BEF is an NGO that receives tax funding from the DOE and works with Floodplains by Design. BEF directly contradicts the state agency from which it receives funding. At yesterday's meeting, a landowner said that BEF has given us $8M and we better do what they want -- BEF didn't give us the money, Floodplains by Design (under the DOE) was the grantor. I can email that grant to anyone who wants to review it themselves.
Its not fair to the City of Sequim to have a bypass built around it to then establish a retail and sales tax haven in Carlsberg. I always thought it made no sense to be going 45 MPH on 101 while Wes Washburn was doing 80 MPH on Old Olympic Highway.
Its not fair to Forks or Clallam bay either. The hours long traveler needs to be given more consideration, I would take this roundabout money and ask Forks and Clallam bay to chip in on an over and under set up.
Either that or take out the Sequim bypass and let Sequim feed from the retail sales tax gravy train too.

The UW was not there. They were caught thinking a road was replacing a trail..
Thats crazy since its roots are in Canada..... I do not support the Canadian news media any more than I support M S M here.

I keep reading the PDN to see if I'm still being investigated by the commissioner, Prosecuting attorney, and sheriff.

Flattery will get you EVERYWHERE with me! I appreciate the kind words :)

What kind words, Deborah. I'm so glad you're along for this crazy ride.

How much? I will contribute. Others would, too, no doubt.

Wow. And they wonder why they are dying. I loathe that paper. Get my obits online. Also use myclallamcounty.com. I think an opp

JUST GET HER DONE AS A ROAD NEED IT THIS YEAR
Good lawd! Let the pitiful anti-free press die, for God’s sake! Especially small town and area ones. They have no interest in real journalism.

CIG, Floodplains by design and Nature Conservancy are in a partnership and they partner with ICLEI. https://cig.uw.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/11/TNC_Floodplains_3_25_16_bothlogos.pdf
They sure do... I don't know how you find all this stuff, John. Thanks for pointing this out.
I am wondering if the land they are offering is in the historic floodplain. :)
A multilayered lawsuit in the works.
😲😳😬🥺😡😭
