Today’s Commissioners’ Work Session
Commissioner Mark Ozias again attended remotely. The Commissioner has not been in the room to facilitate direct dialogue with the public, nor with his fellow Commissioners, since he thwarted last week’s recommended resolution that would have advanced Towne Road to “Option 2”, the road’s surfacing option supported by Commissioners French and Johnson. Commissioner Ozias’ “in person” attendance stands at 76% over the past three months.
Towne Road was not mentioned during today’s Work Session. The completion of the Towne Road Levee should be an ongoing dialogue, especially since County leaders stressed last week that sending the project out to bid this winter would attract the most competitive prices. As a reminder, the completion of Towne Road has seen an inflationary increase of $1.5M since Commissioner Ozias halted the project seven months ago. Had Ozias moved forward with the completion of Towne Road, we would have been driving on the road, surfaced entirely with grant dollars (not County funds), for over two months now.
Today’s Work Session revealed one thing: if the citizens take their eyes off the completion of Towne Road for even one week, the Commissioners will push the road’s completion to the back burner.
Please write to the Commissioners and remind them that a public road, funded by the taxpayers of Clallam County, must be reopened to the very people who have paid, and will continue to pay for the road. Any other outcome is unacceptable. All three Commissioners can be reached by writing to the Clerk of the Board loni.gores@clallamcountywa.gov.
Let Commissioner Mark Ozias know that you expect him to prioritize the needs of the greater community he pledged to represent, not the special interests he continually appeases: mark.ozias@clallamcountywa.gov.
Urge elected Department of Community Development Director Bruce Emery to push for Towne Road’s progress as he works with the Commissioners to reopen this once-promised, vital link between communities: Bruce.Emery@clallamcountywa.gov.
Out of sight, out of mind!
Hope we can get a good response from everyone,
Sent Mr O an email.
Be there tomorrow
