Simple solution! Get an anonymous neighbor with a tractor, and pull or shove that piece of crap into the county right of way (not the road). Then it will fall into the county's jurisdiction, and nobody needs to know how it happened.
This is a problem throughout the county and the City of Port Angeles. The issue should have been addressed by council and commission many years ago.
Trailers , campers and motor homes run everywhere with no tabs and illegal plates.
No one wants to write laws to protect private property because it’s to costly to remove them. We elect officials ( Leaders) to take care of these issues. “ Where are they”
If the disposal fees weren't the highest in the state I would start there. Then I would ask why are they so high? And not the elected officially jibber jabber. Dig deep and you'll not like what you'll find.
How about county commissioners stand up and take care of removing this garbage can full of garbage off the property. Do they need a lawyer to tell them what to do for every situation? Lawyers have written laws that have tied our hands so that we can’t use common sense to solve problems.
Derelict trailers are the hallmark of the Seattle drug scene which has now become the hallmark of the PA drug scene. If nothing is done by the local government to stop this trend (one is also on the west side of PA on the side of the road near Tumwater creek, as well as other locations) the community will be riddled with them.
“Clallam county sheriffs deputy already speaking to the man” and allowing him to leave acted in neglect and the County is now the Owner of this problem. Simple, case closed.
And they're in total neglect if they didn't record the man's identity, his vehicle license plate, etc. The Sheriff needs to be reprimanded for his deputy's inaction.
We get what we pay for. I feel our police force is undermanned, unappreciated and not backed up by OUR courts. They watch their arrest being set free within hours of an arrest and can do nothing about it only to see them walking the streets once again.
This really pisses me off. So if someone parks a vehicle with four flat tires, no tags and a busted windshield in someone's driveway they can't do anything about it? At what point is it no longer their private property when it's on someone else's? If I left my vehicle on someone else's property it would have been hauled off by now, but then we're the ones without the rights.
No way should this be the Grange's problem but I hope they're able to solve it by Monday. Can't it be lifted onto a flatbed with a crane? I bet plenty of volunteers would show up to help.
There is a civil remedy but unless its a crime with restitution involved they can file for bankruptcy. These are one of those moments when you really wish there weren't so many of these public employees playing hide and seek for a grand a week.
I would certainly give a person with a flat, or whatever, time to take care of the problem but this is ridiculous. You're right, the criminals have all the rights.
If someone was legitimately having car trouble and broke down in front of my house, I wouldn't immediately call to have it towed away, give them an hour or two to get it towed away. If someone towed a car and dropped it there, different story.
There was this car dealer in Seattle named Dick Balch who used to smash cars with a sledgehammer on tv. Its perfect. The "Balch-athon" would be held first then the Homecoming bon fire after that.
I could have this completely wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the the Sheriff was voted in by the county, but that the Commissioner's decided they could appoint the Sheriff. Am I wrong?
Once again, the sheriff‘s office in conjunction with our lovely legal eagle team lead at the prosecutors office along with our county commissioners won’t protect property rights of the majority of citizens of the county. In my experience, these people who are elected are absolutely worthless to anyone outside of their special interests and their clique of friends.
I do have a suggestion or 3 as to where it could be towed to.
I’ve seen another counties sheriffs take a stance on controversial issues.
I believe our sheriff is full of excuses when it suits him. It’s absolutely ridiculous the lack of respect that private property owners have in this county when there is an issue with nuisance situations like this.
The deputy sheriff could have been extremely creative in how this was handled. I will guarantee you he doubted the situations explanation and knew it was going to be left and he allowed it.
He could have offered the jerk a ride to his home, picked up the tires with him or stated that he couldn’t do that and needed to call a tow truck and waited until the tow truck got there. There is more than one way to handle a situation. People just like the easy way out.
So rather than step up and take care of conscientious tax paying citizens, the county transferred responsibility to the grange. The grange may have to delay re-opening due to safety hazard and we the people will have to wait for our pancake breakfasts.
I have an idea. If people are stopping by and taking things out of it, maybe over the course of a couple weeks (while our "leaders" wring their hands) parts might come up missing to the point theres nothing left...maybe those people will do that or some local miscreants will and our problem will be solved... I wonder...
This is happening throughout the county. There should be no question that it needs to hauled away. Filing paperwork is B.S. We pay people to remedy these things. My neighbors and myself have called Code Enforcement many times about a "junk yard" down my street. We get tons of excuses but no action. These people are allowed to trash everything, burn indiscriminately, park junk trailers, etc. No action taken. But, let me put up a nicely built hay shed and the county is sending people out to take pictures, knock on my door, scold me, threaten me, and ultimately raise my taxes. They only go after those that will "pay". They will come to your house , driving by a virtual junkyard on their way. Unbelievable that a S.O was right there and allowed this to happen. Did he verify the dumpers I.D? Address? Title? Anything? Guess we are supposed to be happy it wasn't dumped in OUR front yard. Taxes going up and up, services are nill.
If there is illegal drug activity, and possibly other disgusting illegal activity occurring in the trailer, shouldn't it be deemed evidence and stored at a police/sheriff's site for collecting more evidence?
That's nice to know. With these two comments, I know of three or four willing to donate. I'll keep in touch with the Grange, and once they clear the legal hurdle of owning the trailer, I'll let folks know. Good question!
Sadly, abandoning cars and RVs became much more common after covid. Walmart in PA had over a dozen at one time, and it took them months to go through the legal process to obtain titles and have them removed ON WALMARTS DIME.
Someone squatted in a derelict RV on city property behind Walmart for a month. One of my neighbors had an junk car abandoned in her driveway that she was then forced to pay to move. Another car was dumped partially blocking the residential street I live on. At least the Sheriff had that one towed.
I know of no other state that allows this nonsense. Vehicles are towed—operational or not—and the owner of record is responsible for the cost.
Why not put some crappy tires on it so it can be moved by someone who wants to rent a crappy trailer to a homeless person in a big city. Put a "Free" sign on it, and someone will come get it. People make a business of doing this. They just park it somewhere in a city and charge people to live in it until the city comes and tows it away. It's a big problem in Los Angeles. Make it someone else's problem.

Exactly.
My thoughts exactly

That is certainly part of our problem which contributes to waste dumping also. They make everything so hard
Government regulations, they're here to help us 😉
It ain't regulations. You have a city and a county that's poorly ran.
I'm talking about disposing of a RV. Like derelict boats. It would be easier if there weren't so many regulations around disposing of them.
You only need a title and septic and propane tanks removed for RV's and title for a boat.
It used to be that anyone wanting to dispose of an old trailer just parked it out on Rt. 112 where it would miraculously burst into flames.
How about county commissioners stand up and take care of removing this garbage can full of garbage off the property. Do they need a lawyer to tell them what to do for every situation? Lawyers have written laws that have tied our hands so that we can’t use common sense to solve problems.

It's everywhere in Sequim too.,

I wouldn't. Did the officer check I.D? Address?
If someone was legitimately having car trouble and broke down in front of my house, I wouldn't immediately call to have it towed away, give them an hour or two to get it towed away. If someone towed a car and dropped it there, different story.
Exactly!
Burning van event Sequim Washington. Sell hotdogs and elk herd maps. Proceeds go to pay the dump fees, which would be minimal after the event.
Maybe like the car smashing events, $$ a swing with bat or sledge hammer.
There was this car dealer in Seattle named Dick Balch who used to smash cars with a sledgehammer on tv. Its perfect. The "Balch-athon" would be held first then the Homecoming bon fire after that.
Yeah , I’ll take some swings. Then help light the fire.
Wonder how long it would take at Ozias’ house?
OMG, Eric, you are a natural comedian!
Now the County is going to investigate Eric Fehrmann and his followers..:)
So are you, John! You two should get together and do some skits for us.
Yeah, I’m sure.
Hey, I like that!
That’s what I was thinking, match and a gas can.

This state, and the legal system have tied the hands of LE. I can't blame them on this matter.
I can.

I still like the spontaneous combustion idea.

Seriously???? Oh man, I am outta here as soon as I can sell my property!
Who in the hell is the Sheriff Dept working for???

Depending on what transpired illegal dumping might still be viable, if the Grange as the victim wants to pursue.

46.55.230 rcw junk vehicle or trailer…. The deputy need to do his work now and find the guy or the county needs to step up!!!… good work MK
Solutions...👍
The friendly guy meant to drop it off at the diamond point road but missed a turn.

Put "For Sale, $20" and it will be sure to get stolen.
