Agreed, I read the emails and it was one long, sad, “what about me me me me me?”

Why is it amenable for the supporters of opening Towne Road to compromise with Option 2 (trail/road), but the DLTA group cannot accept the same compromise? What kind of people are that unyielding and feel that entitled?

Well said, Denise. What kind of people? Stay tuned, we find out Sunday morning...

Very similar thoughts here. Compromise is a dirty word in their vocabulary? They are buying their own propaganda?

I again wrote to the Commissioners this morning after 3 days of Ozias…….all Ozias, Ozias, Ozias, pause, pause, pause. The other two Commissioners are not addicted & can reasonably function on their own still. Where was Ozias when this project began? Why doesn’t Ozias hear what the County officials are saying to him and to the tax-payers? Only he doesn’t seem to hear his own people, only he keeps catering to the Jamestown mob crew. Only he is the sheep dog. The concerned citizens for reasonable development are immune, thank goodness.

Because of quid pro quo, which should be investigated. If they can investigate President Trump, ad nauseum, perhaps it will work for Ozias. If he's tied up in courts incessantly, he won't have time to interfere with Towne ROAD-- not Towne TRAIL or Towne NATURE WALK-- TOWNE ROAD, and MAYBE if it can be done, those that want it for horses, dogs, and nature walking can pay out of THEIR pockets for an adjacent trail. I can't believe all this crap!!!

As a 5000+ mile/year cyclist, I used to ride on Towne Rd often, and while there were idiots who would have liked to run me off the road if they could, most of the time it was fine. There are idiots on every road. Ward Rd is the route I have to use now, and it’s worse because it’s curvy along most of its length, and there’s absolutely no shoulder. Anyway, this is just another red herring excuse. Next up, the electric gates topic will be revived. Grrr.

I hope those gates don’t come up again, Eberly’s have already cost taxpayers more money than should have. Your point is very well taken, I live off Medsker and it is used for a bike route for cycling events in Sequim, the road is narrow two lanes, I guess because there isn’t even a center line on the road only white lines to designate the side of the road with NO shoulders! Infact one side is a cliff with NO GUARDRAIL, can you imagine? AND MEDSKER IS CHOSEN AS A CYCLING ROUTE? I can’t even believe it 😂So, hopefully once Towne Road is finished it will be a much more safe and beautiful way to travel through the lower Dungeness than narrow winding Ward Road and busy high speed Sequim/Dungeness both of which have no shoulders, if any. I very much look forward to being able to recreate on Towne Road which ever option I choose come this September, can hardly wait to see all my friends out there 🤗.

I ride on all of the roads, Pepai, including Medsker, Holland, Schmuck, out in Agnew, up Hooker, Palo Alto, Olsen, you name it. Sequim is a beautiful place that should embrace cyclists and recreation of all kinds. I realize I’m retired and generally not in a hurry, and maybe that is a luxury, but I think a lot of people who don’t need to be in a hurry hate the fact that a bicycle is interfering with their perceived dominance and ownership of the roads. People are even irritated when I’m walking and picking up trash. Like, why can’t everyone take a breath and calm down? We all need to share the road. I try to be as courteous as possible on my bike. I’m not out there to irritate anyone.

Whenever I encounter a cyclist on the road with oncoming traffic I slow down to their speed and pass ONLY when the other lane is free of traffic. That is my courteous way of saying: Good for You! Enjoy your ride! I want you to feel safe. The extra minute it takes means nothing in the big picture of time. I walk, not bike, and love when oncoming cars move over just a wee bit in acknowledgment. Very seldom do I encounter an asshole who seems to think it sporting to run me off the road but it has happened.

I appreciate your courtesy, Gayle!

Excellent point. It is always heartening to see drivers acknowledge and provide space to walkers, runners and bicyclists. When walking on a shoulder, I appreciate a car driver waving because I know that they see me.

It's baffling that some of the people that walk and drive on the levee seem to think the proposed design (Option 2) is not safe given all the other trails, shoulders, etc that are used in droves around here and are significantly worse in regard to safety. And it's not even that long of a trail portion they'll be traversing. Leaving the road open to a few private parties is WAY more dangerous to the walkers.

Helpful PSA: Walkers, bikers, etc PLEASE wear neon bright colors when you're out there and if you're walking at dawn or dusk, lighting helps.

I encourage front and rear lights on bikes at all times of day, in addition to bright clothing. Walkers at night, dressed in dark colors and without any illumination or reflective gear are my biggest concern. I really don’t want to kill anyone.

Wow. Well done.

One simple, money saving way to ensure the safety of all those trail "users" is to simply pave the road and elminate the trail. That would save the county a ton of money and none of the trail users would have to worry about cars because there wouldn't be a trail on that section of the road. Duh.

And yet these same trail users (ebikes, bicyclists, runners, walkers and more) regularly use the shoulder on Sequim-Dungeness where the speed limit is 50 mph. Maybe we should consider closing Sequim-Dungeness so these people feel safe?

So much BS to wade through and these people are just pawns. They don't even consider how much it will cost the county in defending lawsuits if they don't pave the road. It will far exceed the price tag they have on it now and I'm not keen to have my tax dollars going to defend multiple lawsuits. I'd rather see it spent on the dang road.

The more waffling that goes on, the more I have time to think about this road design and think a standard road with 10-foot lanes and 4-foot shoulders suits everyone: farm equipment can fit, bikes can use the shoulder or come out to the street to avoid a walker, and it's the least restrictive design. I imagine a bike behind a guardrail or curb coming up to some walkers that have a dog on a 25' retractable leash, and the cyclist either has to hop a curb or stop, lift over the guard rail, and continue. DLTA simultaneously argues that there is too much traffic (so recreationalists must be separated) but there isn't enough traffic to warrant opening the road. I'd respect them a little more if they were consistent.

Well stated - having been BARELY missed by a huge mirror on the side of a truck while riding my bike years ago on Sequim / Dungeness........good poing!!

I have been run over (literally) by E-bikes on the Dungeness River Trail where motorized anything is supposedly prohibited. I don't walk that trail anymore because of the E Bikes.

Wow! This thing rides like a roller-coaster--up and down and sideways until you're fairly sick to your stomach not knowing which way the ride we are on will veer next. Want to keep track? Just understand the dynamics in Clallam County of the Jamestown Tribe's influence over Commissioner Mark Ozias.

Is there a ❤️ LOVE button cause I’m pushing it girl! Stay tuned Tuesday! August 17, 2022 letter CHANGED EVERYTHING because it was all about where he lived and wanting what I and many others want and can’t have because it’s about tax-payer money. We pay taxes for roads not to build someone (?) their own 20+MILLION $$ private entrance…………..period!

Can someone please tell Charles Main and all the DLTA supporters that the Eberles did INDEED ask for this? Just read that August 2022 email letter. Derrick Eberle's name is also on as the creator of the change.org "survey" masquerading as a petition.

Ya. And Gayle, anyone who criticizes the Tribe is racist, according to some who feel it is righteous to point it out on ND. I’m not a part of this local Tribe but I am privy to many issues their members do not (are not allowed?) talk about. That’s true of many closed groups. Knowing everything in their world is not all roses and trying to support the members does not make one racist.

And if bicyclists are nervous about riding adjacent to automobile traffic, or people are nervous about speeders, then maybe ALL roads in Clallam county should be ripped up so these people can feel at one with nature, and feel the dirt beneath their feet. What utter bullshit!

Towne is a ROAD, for motor vehicles! Get over your BS and complete it!

Maybe it is Ozias that should be investigated for quid pro quo activities.

My name is John Worthington and I represent the Jethro Spoon Association and I am a member of the silverware committee. My testimony to the silverware committee is that teaspoons are just too small to be of any use. They might as well call it a thimble spoon. Now a Jethro Spoon holds as much as you can fit in your mouth. I think we ought to get rid of all tablespoons...Hey Barney guys lets go to a trail association to decide if its a trail or a road..
