Here's another opportunity for what I personally believe is an activist running against someone who has actual credentials to understand science.
My vote is in for Judy after I reviewed the ballot mailing information and came to the conclusion that at a minimum she had a background that would make her more fit to hold such a position.
I was apalled when I saw the Facebook post campaign smear against Judy. Spurious allegations that would work well in a Seattle crowd, amongst other ignorant words that have nothing to do with holding that position.
From the perspective of what ails this county due to the kind of activists running the county and municipalities, it would be nice to see this election signal the change most commentors have been clamoring for.
Make time in your day to drive to PA and get your ballot, and vote right there where it needs to be dropped off.
Judy Larson has the knowledge and skills to represent us in a professional, transparent manner. Her capabilities and experience in advocating for our county residents and our environmental safety is second to none. The CDC will benefit with her insight and knowledge. I voted for Judy.
Oh no Mr Bill, "anti science"... Thank you Jeff, I'm not voting for Cox. Anyone who has a bumper sticker argument against an opponent is just another body in the clown car.
Again, thank you, I would have missed this election. Interesting how we get bombarded with propaganda when our votes are wanted and not when there may be opposition.
WHY is this an election to public office that is NOT included in our normal voting process? I feel offended that I'm supposed to know about this and actually have to request a ballot.
Lance Staub, you are absolutely, positively correct. If one does not subscribe to the local newspapers on or offline there is nowhere to go for county news and elections. If someone one on this site can tell me otherwise, please let me know. Never heard of or knew anything until Jeff wrote about it this morning, and I try to keep up without paying for subscriptions.
One thing that I noticed about Christy Cox's campaign, which began from the moment she, et al. started touting Sisterland Farms, was her battle cry, "radically". I had a strong gut feeling that she was setting the stage for a political agenda, right from beginning of her involvement in CCCD. NOLT is another non-profit I have watched with interest, and at least one of the P.A. City Council member's involvement in both organizations, with their rapid rise in local political prominence since relocating to the Olympic Peninsula only a few years ago. Thanks for the enlightenment, Jeff, as to the mechanics of the money laundering through NOLT, of which Sisterland Farms benefitted being named "Farmer of the Year", twice.
I have voted in the CCCD elections for a couple of years, and have noticed more restrictive access to receiving a ballot this year with the site to register for a mail-in ballot being inaccessible, suggesting I vote in-person. I can see the advantage of in-person, though inconvenient, living in Agnew.
Anyone who is a lifelong resident of Clallam County can easily identify those with an agenda, who have been "planted" in local governance, watching them build false trust, rising to positions of authority within short order via private networks, especially since the advent of ZOOM and social platforms.
It is common practice for activists to disparage opponnents with charges of "denier", "anti", and "racist" allegations to indoctrinate them, building a base with those who may be undecided in their vote(s); but well to remember, that assertions needn't be true or accurate, only that they resonate with the audience. Awareness is paramount in makig prudent decisions that affect our natural resources, quality of life and individual rights that are constantly being challenged. Judy Larson gets my vote.
FYI: I did receive a mail-in ballot today, after all. My first attempt was met with the site being inaccessible, suggesting voting in-person. I did a second attempt and my ballot came in the mail today.
They were nice to me online but they kept saying we are deferring to NODC. "We don't want to interfere with NODC." Watch their meetings. Its a wasted exercise because its yet another body taking orders from the United Nations contractors at NODC.
What kind of transparency is it when you have to hear about an election through a blog post and then drive 30 miles to RT to vote on something that affects us? We could vote at the schoolhouse if the Conservation district were for Clallam County or some other neutral location. They should have more than one place to vote.
Pat, as I asked previously, is proxy or absentee voting allowed? I haven't looked up the RCW's on the Voting Rights Act (it's a little late for this election) but everyone has the right to vote, right?
I voted in-person last year, and it was easy. Thanks, Jeff, for the update. The ugly words and party aligned phrases used to smear an opponent are spiraling down an abyss. Our body armor is so callused, we are numb to the abusive attacks. Vote CC!
When I hear a “climate activist” accuse someone else of “anti science” “anti this” “anti that” and especially “spreading misinformation” I instantly trust the person they are accusing more. Everyone thinks they’re an activist these days.
It’s so ironic. We received our ballots day before yesterday. Not knowing anything about the two ladies we both felt that ms. Larson was the better vote. She has credentials etc, hasn’t been the main player for who knows how long. Plus the wording of ms. Cox statement was different because she did not stand on her own. So we voted for Larson… to which prior to this note, was going to ask who to vote for… lol… I hope everyone has gotten a ballot or will… we need to change the hierarchy here!
Lear rhymes with steer. They make no independent decisions there. They follow orders. Just like they do at Clallam County Water Conservation Commission and most everywhere else.
Early polling indicates that 90% of CC Watchdog subscribers (approximately 140 respondents within the first five hours) believe that the Sequim School District’s equity initiatives are not treating all students fairly.
In alignment with your first vision statement—"to put the translated desires of our residents into action through effective communication"— and your willingness to write letters of support for various causes, would you consider issuing a letter of support urging the Sequim School District to end its practice of race-based ticket pricing for sporting events?
Your leadership in ensuring fairness and equal treatment for all students would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Jeff for all you do! I dropped by and picked up 2 ballots, my husband and myself. They have handed out 35 ballots today so the word is getting out there. Our votes are for Judy.
That's great, Carolyn. You may have answered an important question: can a person pick up ballots for other people in their household that aren't present?
Yes, no problem! I spoke with Jen, who I met before when she came out to my property to help me learn about my pasture. She taught me how to do a soil test and was very helpful. It’s a free service through the CCD. I’ve attended a few free seminars also about toxic weeds and pasture management.
That just left me scratching my head, but what got me ticked off was the unsupported smear. What Jeff didn't put up were the comments continuing the attack. It was ugly. Even when confronted with the unsupported claims readers were admonished to do their own work and look it up for themselves.
Is that the kind of people we want to be out here?

Can we do this?
Last year's race was separated by a very small number of votes... About 200.
Judy Larson has the knowledge and skills to represent us in a professional, transparent manner. Her capabilities and experience in advocating for our county residents and our environmental safety is second to none. The CDC will benefit with her insight and knowledge. I voted for Judy.

Larson you have my vote!
Thanks for voting, Billy.
Again, thank you, I would have missed this election. Interesting how we get bombarded with propaganda when our votes are wanted and not when there may be opposition.
You're welcome. Interesting comparison.

Wow, you really keep an eye on things Timothy. Thanks.
As far as voting in person for this election, and if one can't do that, is it allowed to proxy vote? Is there a form and the rules supplied for that?
Hmmm... I haven't come across an answer for that. I'd call (360) 775-3747 and ask.
Thank you Jeff. Who does that number go to?

I'm claiming 'special' status as an old white male...the most despised category of human in existent right now!
Vote for me...I'm old and tired and broken and broke so I need your vote of support!🤣

All three County Commissioners can be reached by emailing the Clerk of the Board at loni.gores@clallamcountywa.gov
This was sent at 11:00 am today:
Dear Clallam County Commissioners,
Early polling indicates that 90% of CC Watchdog subscribers (approximately 140 respondents within the first five hours) believe that the Sequim School District’s equity initiatives are not treating all students fairly.
In alignment with your first vision statement—"to put the translated desires of our residents into action through effective communication"— and your willingness to write letters of support for various causes, would you consider issuing a letter of support urging the Sequim School District to end its practice of race-based ticket pricing for sporting events?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Judy is the far better choice.
"...and first openly queer..."
Can we just stick to what really matters for the CCD: your favorite color and your preferred pie-filling.
That just left me scratching my head, but what got me ticked off was the unsupported smear. What Jeff didn't put up were the comments continuing the attack. It was ugly. Even when confronted with the unsupported claims readers were admonished to do their own work and look it up for themselves.

Thanks Jeff I will pick up a ballot, I had no idea this was taking place!
