From my perspective, the County deserves reimbursement for the unnecessary costs incurred due to the Tribe’s actions. If this happened to anyone else, there would be lawsuits and fines to compensate for the damage as well as send a message that ensures "partners" in a project don't make unilateral decisions that burden the public.
In the real world, outside of Sequim and outside of the Tribe, if anyone had a project go this off course, time and money, no one would do business with this partner again, RIGHT? Who in their right mind would go back for more lack of communication, over runs, and rip offs, NO ONE THATS WHO. Yet our County government continues to reward the very group that has cost our County millions and millions of dollars! WHY? That should be the current question & it should affect everything currently in progress, don’t you think? I DO! That might be. I was thinking that since Clallam County would be suing a sovereign country, it would be in Federal Court... like suing Canada or Spain.
Won't matter unless we clean house on our own nefarious appointees, selectees and 'electees'...the 'agents' of foreign corporations who are sidestepping and undermining due process locally...it all depends on a critical mass and all we can do is the best we know/learn how...and exposure is the first step...so here we go...🤔
