The agenda to cancel the fireworks includes a tribute to the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe? "...responsibly stewarding the people, LANDS..." It seems to be a preview to what is to come. Our fireworks display can be saved if run by the tribe because they are stewards of the land? One more monopoly move?

"I live and do fireworks in the appropriated lands of the Jamestown S'Klallam globalists."

There. It should be ok now. I have taken the oath.

That's a good 'citizen'!🤣OBEY and don't ask any more of those pesky questions!

We'll probably see each other in the FEMA camps if we make it That far!😱

So radical to use discernment and common sense!🤫

See the JFK speech that got him killed: "infiltration instead of invasion".

Soft invasion. Soft but vicious. We'll never get out of this place 'alive'!🤣

No fireworks? Let's buy guns and ammo and start shooting it into the air instead, LOL!

Can you imagine the Red White & Blue lights they can proudly display in Blyn on the Fourth of July? With whose money? Probably ours, probably because we don't know how to be stewards of the land according to the facts that are presented in this article. Probably on their land. Somehow the tribe will profit.

Spraying water into a hedgerow behind the soccer, “drenching that entire area."

"This is a very disruptive practice to the birds that nest in that hedgerow all 364 other days of the year.”

Thanks Jeff, this is the first time I have heard that birds are afraid of water. What in the world can we do to protect them from the rain?

The Sequim City Council is actually very transparent in their seeming desire to eradicate the sense of community and national patriotism celebrated with fireworks shows.

Jeff perhaps a few city FOIA’s are in order? Eric I thought the very same thing about the birds & water, I couldn’t get off the floor exhausted from laughing hysterically. Can someone really be that out in left field, let’s say? Actually with all the supposed water shortage here and the excuse of needing a reservoir to grow food I’m surprised that a more sane argument wasn’t used instead? But just goes to show the lights are on no one’s home.

In July the birds at my house dance in the sprinklers…..I can believe she really thinks that way considering….

Most likely the county hasn’t received signed petitions and funding yet for the reservoir so all the ammunition is still being kept under wraps too?

Very obvious the elected city council members don’t care just like in the county & state. They have an agenda and they will say & do anything to get what they want, all in the name of democracy. It is crystal clear & it’s all being so exposed to see all the damage caused. Like how these people supported electric cars in the name of green one minute and destroy them the next & then support destruction….crazy! Come on man!

Soon the new school buildings will be further 'educating' more nuttiness. But it'll be out of the rain so the kiddies won't drown with the birds, or bird brains.

'Unconstitutional' is all the rage for the commies!😱

My thoughts exactly, Eric. Hydrophobic birds-- imagine that! And coming from someone named "Harmony" is laughable! Leftists thrive on emotions and soon their ability to think rationally/logically is lost to them.

So Stoffer has taken the tribal oath on public access tv and if he was been a member of the NODC or SERN he took another oath.

This one says:

Charter 1.3 - Mission

The Association’s Mission shall be to build and serve a worldwide movement of local

governments to achieve tangible improvements in global sustainability with special focus on

environmental conditions through cumulative local actions.

Mr. Stoffer wants to take an oath for the tribe and the United Nations. He takes it before testifying to the Clallam County Commissioners.

Here is my public comments to the Charter Review Commission.

Any person who has ever taken either the NODC , SERN or United Nations oath is disqualified from any Clallam County government position.

That means anybody at any time who has sworn allegiance to the tribes or the United Nations international sphere of government cannot hold office in Clallam County.

Clallam County citizens have the right to be represented by people committed only to Clallam County.

Do we know for sure he is a member of the NODC?

Mark Ozais has taken the NODC and SERN oath by joining and running NODC. He is tied like all the other commissioners are also tied to the NODC oath through the EDC who they funded to participate. Sequim, City of Port Angeles and Clallam County took the SERN oath.

Navarra Carr, Schromen Wawrin, Kate Dexter, Brenden Meyer all disqualified

Jamestown members imbedded into local government have taken all three oaths.

Hansi Hals

Wendy Clark Getzin

Latrisha Suggs

Lori Delorme

All of them disqualified for having conflicts of interests.

Fireworks on the 4th of July, Independence Day, are a tradition. Our country celebrates with flag displays, picnics with friends, family, and neighbors, parades, and fireworks accompanied with patriotic songs. All citizens should be livid that any government representative is deliberately sabotaging this holiday. And you are very right, Jeff. This is not democracy. Everyone should have been apprised of the complaint and had ample time to comment. How many times does this make that Sequim City Council or the BoCC has been sneaky and underhanded in its procedures. I am retroactively starting a tally.

Expand full comment

Democracy as we believe in it is a lie. It is literally 'mob rule'!

If you get 51% your 'side' wins. Too bad for the other 49% of us.

So you divide the people along two extreme points of view (roughly 50/50) then you manipulate and purchase the required fraction to get the 1%.

The whole thing is a scam from the beginning.

We are supposed to be a Constitutional Republic with representation by the 'wisest' among us. This is what is looks like when we attempt to govern by the 'laws of man'.

800,000 and counting in the U.S. alone. Another failed experiment!😃

Yes, we are a Constitutional Republic. The Sequim City Council members ran on Democracy. They have failed.

I agree this is an AMERICAN tradition. Unfortunately as I’ve witnessed in the past having a more diverse council who protected taxpayers during Covid…. the current council is not a diverse group, they are DGGL & Indivisible members or lefties & they can pass any stupid idea that comes along whether there is a majority or not. Unless people vote differently this is what will continue to happen. Fireworks can still happen outside the city limits. I wonder how quick the CC Commissioner’s will jump on this funding ask? I’ll bet we hear that long lost “NAY” once again?

I listened to the Sequim City Council's January special meeting after reading your article about it.

If you want some entertainment listen to it. Scratch that, don't. I thought I was listening to a junior high school popularity contest. The maturity level of some of them is scary, and obvious to me is that as a group they're activists for someone/something. The disgusting display of apologies to an unknown entity are all telling.

Every activist group needs a red herring, and this one has obviously found theirs.

This circumventing of the public is very similar to how they dealt with the school bond/levy. They really don't need the public at all (except to fund it), we just get in the way of them passing a predetermined agenda.

Yes, very obvious that everything is pre-determined from a higher order somewhere.

Just what I want to hear. Several hundred screaming drones with there annoying whine like nails on a chalkboard. No... I'll take the boom and star burst with the crowd 'Ooh s and Awwws" and the occasional toddler crying as they are exposed to their first Pyrotechnic display.

This should be voted upon by the people of Clallam County. Drone shows are great, but fireworks displays are magical.

The drones will be determined to upset the birds. There will be no celebration because it's all about tamping down patriotism. The handful of apologetic shame-ridden people who control the town will have their way as they continue to genuflect to the cause. This won't stop until we're all taking a knee in unison.

Off with my head then I guess!

Standing position guillotines should become popular for the 'olders'!

Time to go! Bring it on! Tired of waiting!😊

They could care less about your knees or head or having you dead. All they care about is what things they can take from you, money, house, health etc., you are worth more alive & sickly so the cycles of control can continue. Creating guettos is their goal…..

How about holding the fireworks show inside of City Council's chambers! No birds will be bothered, no birds will be drenched, and think of the enjoyment such a show would bring to the community! :-)

Seems the council does whatever THEY want to do. They represent themselves and the Tribe.

There must be far safer locations for this celebration; like over water. My example would be deployment from the Coast Guard station on Ediz Hook for P.A.. The Dungeness spit ? In Seattle a barge floating on Lake Union was and I assume remains a July 4th staple. OVER WATER

Good points. I think city staff has identified this park as the only option within city limits.

Well just sign over the city to 'the tribe', then they can sell and set off as many as they like, for as long as they like...very environmentally responsible, you know!🤓

Expand full comment

OMG, the horror of doing it over water! It will frighten the salmon, disrupting the Tribe's harvest. The fallout will poison the shellfish, and the paper shards will choke sea birds. And the noise, heaven forbid, will surely disrupt the nesting of purple-footed, blue-haired, edjumacallums. Better watch fireworks on TV, instead.

These Communist local politicians treat us like mushrooms-- they keep us in the dark and feed us bullshit.

Why wasn't the public alerted to get their take on it. Why are we just finding out about this now? Fireworks are a tradition to celebrate patriotism, two things these Commies are against. Just ONE DAY/year, we want to enjoy our faith, our flag, and apple pie, and celebrate with fireworks, these uptight miscreants want to piss on our parade! This infuriates me!

Once again we are being treated like children..leave the tradition alone. If you feel the need to change a public event the time to do it is not after money..tax dollar? Have been spent.

There are some options for those who'd like to stay informed. I tend to listen in on public meetings using the live link, but they also offer a recorded version that anyone can listen to at their leisure. In-person attendance is no longer the only way to stay in touch.

More secret dealings without general public input. 🧐We would prefer only 'official' fireworks and not the general mayhem associated with the free-for-all situation we currently have.

Good luck though with compliance because defiance is so much more fun...plus it's racist to not have general fireworks because the 'indians' sell most of them regionally.

Oh, well, another day, another little scandal! God loves a good drama!🎭 TRUTH, JUSTICE, LIBERTY AND TOUGH LOVE!❤️🤪

Maybe this isn't about suppressing fire works but suppressing the 4th of July as a celebration altogether (you know, the anti-American crowd). In case no one has noticed: the 4th of July parades in Port Angeles have a "theme." The "theme" for the 4th of July SHOULD BE the 4th of July! But no--not in this county. Last year's theme was "parks and recreation." I was in that parade supporting Republican Women and was embarrassed that the Republican Women of Clallam County embraced the "theme" instead of patriotism. I saw very few flags flying from other entrants (I was the only one waving a flag in our entry) and few flags being waved from the crowd on the side walks. Folks, there is a concerted effort in this county to do away with all things celebratory of America--the greatest country on earth.

I remember the thrill of fireworks shows when I was a kid. Running around in the dark, getting to stay up late, being in awe of the Grand Finale. I'm assuming the protesters are Boomers. Do they not remember their childhoods?

I've been looking forward to taking my kids once they're a little older. Maybe the city can find a different location rather than spend tens of thousands of dollars more on a drone show, which is neat but is not the same, and is already held every year at the Sunshine Festival.
