Thank you for the report. A 6" curb sounds like a bad idea but opposing it would just play into Ozias's delay agenda. Sounds like it's time to send another note of encouragement to Commissioners Johnson and French.

It is looking like I may owe you lunch, Jeff! But you know what they say: it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. The Tribe/Ozias still have a few months to sabotage complete restoration of the road. But I’m hoping lunch is on me!

Wow, how can I cram 3+hours of commenting onto this page? Were there records set today recreating Hoover Dam, oh I meant Towne Road levee? Most awards are engineering for creation, design and construction of a road on a levee, great it’s a well built levee. Salmon are not going to swim up the river in a wetland area, they require water FLOW to swim upstream. Salmon don’t spawn until August waiting in the Dungeness Bay. The wetlands will get water when the river overflows its bank otherwise it will be a mosquito breeding ground & salmon will not benefit unless bugs wash out to the bay & the lower Dungeness River. Salmon are in low numbers because of tribal net fishing boats and crabbing can’t be regulated by numbers either. Once the water flow decreases & temps rise in summer fish will remain in the bay. Are fishery’s releasing enough fish? Look around are the rivers remaining intact, one large main flow, or are there many smaller tributaries being created by the tribe that reduce the main water flow making it harder for fish on the Dungeness? Jeff nailed todays meeting, the players who want to go with the flow and the two who didn’t, so typical. I can’t say I’ve ever witnessed such a show of determination (nice word) to continue on with the patience of the zoom & board room audience, expert presentation attendees, facts and numbers, and statements of position by one County Commissioner EVER! But I had never seen a wife of a Commissioner admonish taxpayers and comment about how wonderful her hard working husband is either. All I can say is today was another first, and I hope it’s the last. The other Commissioners stood their ground against the Godfather II brouhaha, however a swift moderation was definitely past due.

Boom! Excellent close to your editorial.

I simply could not sit through a meeting like that. So much kerfluffle and I’ll say it again; malfeasance.

Thanks Jeff.

Another excellent summary, Jeff. Thank you. I watched the entire work session and was appalled by Ozias's blatant, desperate, and pathetic attempt to yet again derail the completion of Towne Road. His intense questioning and scrutinizing of the work of experts is uncalled for, even when repeatedly couched in the phrasing of "help me understand"; wanting something in writing from the fire chief, as though his in-person testimony during the meeting is not good enough. Really?

Ozias needs to be recalled. Maybe he should consider running as a Tribal Commissioner instead of a County Commissioner.

The only other option is to turn around and run downhill... and it's not much of a battle when we are only taking pot-shots over our shoulders as we are herded down the hill.

The consequences are too important to ignore. It's about much more than a levee, a road and some fish! Maybe the globalists are right...95% reduction in human population? Glad I'm older...hope I don't have to reincarnate into this drama again!

By "relocate" did Cheryl Baumann mean imminent domain? That was a very scary statement that she publicly made. Applause to you, Jeff, for staying awake thru Ozias' grandstanding and narcissistic diatribe to bring us this short and simple synopsis! Good luck today.

"...the money intended to complete Towne Road would be better utilized to relocate residents in Dungeness to other areas before climate change makes their community uninhabitable."

Warning: Chaotic stream of consciousness here. It was an idiotic thing for her to say. If it's all of Dungeness, this would include relocating the private property owner that wants his private gates (that property is actually considered part of "Dungeness"), a few businesses and so many private property owners that it would be cost prohibitive. The money would not even be a drop in the bucket to compensate and relocate everyone unless you're gonna' round us up and move us all into a gymnasium somewhere. Property rights would be trampled left and right so yeah - it would have to be eminent domain. And if it comes to that, then things would really get interesting. Even if it's "just" 3 Crabs Road inhabitants, this all still applies. Idiocy. I suspect the general population of the county would not look favorably on using tax payer funds to relocate the population of Dungeness to save us from climate change anymore than many of us don't look favorably on using tax payer funds to support private gates and a road that is only open to a few county residents.

PAVE TO SAVE LIVES! I can't join this morning but will have that up on my Zoom. DLTA and the propogandists are planning to "gather" their group outside the courthouse and "march in" together. It would be hysterical to have more of Towne Road supporters intermingle in that group and step up at the Public Speaking time. Or have every other seat occupied so they have to disperse.

Did I have Cheryl Baumann pegged or what. I always knew what she wanted to do. She finally admitted what she wanted to do. De Niro didn't even have to pull a doll out of a bag in front of a parole board. Why don't we buy out Elwha and Jimmycomelately too, if a person was going to be fair. She gave a visual aide on why the policy on the three rivers are not fair.

She has to go. A person like that can't be involved in government.

Bingo, Deborah!...maybe it's a lost cause but we can still choose to follow our consciences and do our best however insignificant it may be. We still have to live with ourselves no matter which way the poor Dungeness flows. As a former hydro-tech with the Forest Service many years ago, I can affirm that what they are doing to modify the Dungeness for habitat enhancement is a complete waste of resources.

The river is carrying material down into the channel(s) WAY faster than it is carrying anything out to sea.

Just look downstream from the Railroad Bridge and you can see the convex shape of the river bed/channel(s).

When controlled gravel harvesting was allowed in the river... that made sense, as it created more pools and habitat and relieved the pressure of the buildup of materials over time. The river hasn't been flushing it's channel of larger material since the end of the last ice age and then it was spread out in great deluges when ice dams would break and distribute boulders and cobbles outside the main river channel. The Dungeness is a naturally degrading fish habitat and all the remediation the powers that be are doing will not only fail but cause unwanted unintended consequences. Common sense is gone and replaced by idiocracy and arrogance. End of Empire.🫣

Went to the work session today. I have to say the DLTA group has some nice people, but they also have a couple that are incredibly RUDE! One next to me decided it was okay to laugh at comments one of the pro Towne Road re-opening commenter was making. The last one called out Jeff by name even though the guidelines quoted at the start of public comment time stated they should be directed at the commissioners. PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE!

Only Ozias was physically there (Randy was on zoom). I think Ozias' watch must be broken given his time keepingfor the trail only commenters. I'll have to calibrate my watch with his when the video comes out. I did tell the laughing woman she was being rude (no apology from her).

After the meeting in a conversation with a lovely woman from DLTA, I did ask why they were so concerned with traffic there but blind to the fact that it was a road with aggie vehicles that are known for terrible CO2 emissions and compression of soil. She said she would ask Mr. Eberle what he does to mitigate those issues. I appreciate that, but wish I'd had time to point out the water pollution issues with pig farms too.

Looking at some past comments from last week, it suddenly occurred to me highly coincidental that one person brought up tagging (graffiti vandalism) at the old oyster house in 3 crabs and how the county wouldn't repaint it. The coincidence is that the restrooms at The Landing county park on Marine Drive also suffered a lot of vandalism. Seems like someone is committing a lot of vandalism in areas that are known to be pro- Towne Road re-opening. The Landing issue was disturbing because one urban area I lived in had a resident who was constantly cleaning graffiti because of the data showing letting graffiti stand often preceded gang trouble in a neighborhood.

I intend to write a note to the commissioners about bad behavior at the public comments today and my disappointment in the moderator letting those items pass by. (and once I can validate the broken watch theory suggesting he get or borrow a new watch).

Thank you, A. Johnson. I just read your post and reread my post and need to correct imminent to eminent. Ozias wears the mask of ignorance to disguise his antipathy for his constituents.

Wow! It's hard not to get caught up in name calling about 'Nozias'. So blatantly disregarding public needs and input! Especially when he is obviously linked to these other outside organizations. The ICLEI is a globalist organization with tentacles around the globe and mysterious funding passing out millions to special interest groups to further an agenda which on the surface looks like helping the environment or bringing balance to ecological situations... however, it absolutely is short-cutting and thumbing its collective nose at due-process and open, transparent communications. All these other alphabet agencies within our state and county borders are extensions of the globalists. It is a power grab. All these county professionals stating the obvious reasoning and needs of the Towne Road as through road and he just won't back off. He needs to go...work directly for 'The Tribe' so at least that is transparent. I'm sure Jamestown has a special position for him besides on our board of commissioners. Go, Mark, go to your master and obey, obey, obey!... Oh, yeah, you already are.

Expand full comment

Robert, I do not fault the Tribe. Maybe I should. Maybe I am hopelessly naive. It is hard to imagine sitting at a roundtable and planning a taking for the sake of the environment. Many tribal people own property out there. But there is seemingly more money available than even God has. So what do I know? I read this very story all over our Country. Could they ALL be a coincidence? It seems to me there is a huge contingency who want reparations and restoration, the public be damned. I dunno. Would a sitting Commissioner make a public fool of himself all over a road? Unless he has knows there are events in the works that will make him look good. So if my “conspiracy” is too far fetched, someone please ‘splain to me what in the world is happening here.

Expand full comment

Not far fetched, just hard to believe...we have (mostly) all been naive like the frog in the pot.

Look up The Rothschilds 25 Point Plan for World Domination.

These beings have been and are planning decades and centuries in advance because of their belief in their bloodlines giving them the 'right to rule'.

There have been many revolutions which have failed to dislodge or eliminate these beings...they are several levels removed from the action so they can safely pull strings and orchestrate coups and wars without direct exposure and they finance both sides of virtually every war and have bankrupted and indebted most nations on Earth.

They collectively own and control the banks which control money flow which controls everyone who needs money to operate which is most everyone.

Depending on how deep you want to go, there are evidences between the rapacious 'god'(s) of the Old Testament and the oldest ancient texts ever found in the Middle East which describe the Annunaki (those who from the sky came) as usurping forces who were responsible and unaccountable for manipulating humans into a more docile useable form for the 'sky gods' benefit.

It explains a lot as the old saying monkey-see-monkey-do applies here. Human behavior mimics or mirrors the behavior of the 'controllers'...manipulation, genocide, infanticide, poisoning, assassinations, coups, greed, lust, the corruption of power.

These are all written about not only in the Bible but likely the Bible drew on these ancient texts before they were lost to time...to be rediscovered (in part) in 'modern' times. So the creeping unease many are feeling is based in a very real scenario playing out on planet Earth with forces far beyond our control. We only get to choose how we relate and respond (or react) to the circumstances... if possible I prefer to die on my feet vs living on my knees. "Give me Liberty or give me death!" Patrick Henry

I don't know about anyone else but I have been seeing and feeling the pressure to 'do something'. I think Sequim is where the line is drawn. On many fronts. Like Plato said... 'what you tolerate you will have to live with'.

I see Ozias as a man who wants to be a power player but hasn't the brains to do so and has to his demise not covered his bases and hasn't the $$$$ or the pull to see his mission thru to success. I am surprised to see the Tribe still associate themselves with him unless they too are unaware of the crash and burn coming toward them on this front. Anyway enjoy your comments also...

I like your confidence. I agree 'Nozias' is not too bright but he has the confidence (apparently) that he is right in overriding and bypassing due process for his masters.

The management of the Tribe is arrogant, full of hubris and power hungry like so many and they go forward in confidence as well, it seems. There is a bigger agenda at play and the rewards for carrying out that agenda are substantial regards power, money and real estate.

I hope, pray and imagine the corruption crashing and burning but not at all sure of the timeline. Hope it is sooner. Thanks for commenting.🙂
