This is absolute proof of JSKT only caring about profit. They are willing to jeopardize their reputation as wild salmon advocates and environmental stewards to turn a profit. Every business they are in should be viewed in this profit driven manner as they have proven they will put their most sacred rights (fishing) at risk and oppose other indigenous peoples so they can make a buck. Shame on JSKT.

Not a revelation, just the JST business model applied effectively. Every action taken by the group is undertaken with the end in mind (profit), and then all steps are taken to maximize profit at the expense of everyone else. That cannot be missed in any of their transactions unless you are just not paying attention which apparently most are not.

Indeed! From all that they do, that is abundantly clear.

You "care about the environment..." But, not, if a buck can be made and the environment is harmed in the process. Hypocrisy raises its dirty little head over and over. It's so predictable. Rules for thee but not for me.

Another brilliant article Jeff...

Wow! The dots lead to the coast of West Africa, Antarctica, Peru (which has been in the news lately with a coastal megaport being built by China), and little ol' Alaska. Surprising, but not surprising, that JST is involved in this tangled fish net. These issues are never about the salmon; they're about power and more power. The new playbook guidelines: Make all the laws about saving fish, build a casino, and play the victim. I'm beginning to not like fish. This post is definitely worth saving, because I know, Jeff, that you have more information coming with more dots to connect!

With Musk pushing for colonies on Mars, I am quite sure JST will be adding their Sovern Nation 50% to the treaty soon.

Does Jamestown Tribe owe reparations to the rest of us TRIBES for breaking treaties and MONOPOLIZING and introducing disease in our fish? Thanks Jeff for another eye opening Sunday morning.

I won’t refer to them as the Tribe any more that is so disrespectful to the real Tribes ! I now call them The Casino People inc. Another corporation that benefits off the addiction and weakness of people , there is a long list of these triggers and the Casino People inc provide them all ! My sins have always been TAXED !

So they take salmon, watershed, floodplain historic restoration grants and then create a natural aberration. Some of it I like some of it I don't

They best they can ever do commercially is extend the fixed meandering coil filled with layers of silt, protect the coil from logs and storm scour. then just let their genetics happen.

They can manage to do that on the Jimmycomelateley. On the Dungeness they are reversing to a historic let the river go policy. The same policy they used on old man McGlothlin who used to own the property where the longhouse is. After they got the agreement with Him and the logging company or RV park they built the never meandering version they have now. I tried unsuccessfully to get them to adhere to that standard and became a "crack pot" when I did.

Stacking salmon up like cord wood for harvest is not good practice. Just lay off harvesting them. Be happy with the casino haul invest in farming. 600 people should be doing quite well with that. The Jimmycomelately salmon plan is the next best thing to hatchery and pen systems. Its arguably natural because its just increasing the odds of spawning with a coil of slow moving water filled with silt. Historic plans create way more spawning hazards. Riffles log and storm scour. In short they are willing to use historic restoration when they want to take back "ancestral" lands at the expense of the high percentage spawning design they use at Jimmycomelateley.

Going for the reparations and compensation for colonization plan has just emphasized and gas lighted the racial divide. Time for them to kick out the international non-profit consortium. It has already cost them a treaty right as far as I am concerned. We have paid enough in compensation. Time to be square. Bring the Jimmycomelately model to Dungeness post haste. Time to get on with the farming priority not the "ancestral" land takeover they have aligned with the United Nations to accomplish. The plan that broke the treaty the Jamestown is trying to invoke.

We have new federal agency heads coming in. There's still time to change the reparations road they are on.

Just more dots and lines to add to your graphs, John. They're already almost full.

Sometimes it just takes keeping honest score. Some of these college grads that work in the NGO's and for the tribe are just lucky to pay off a student loan and stack chips.

Whether they jump from one foot to the other doesn't matter to them. Those people don't even know who old man McGlothlan is.

So, the clown circus of the Jamestown Tribal government claims that they have been victims of an "undemocratic process" when the vast majority of people come together to reject their highly questionable and potentially harmful nonnative species salmon pens, but they rejoice when they themselves deploy the most underhanded unconstitutional, unlawful, and offensively undemocratic schemes behind closed door meetings and "private plotting" in complete violation of the democratic process? Yeah right~! Then, to attempt to further gaslight the good folks of our community, this same clown circus that selectively remembers The Constitution only when it suits them and their shameful greedy goals, has the extreme unmitigated gall to falsely claim that only THEY can dictate what "valid science" is? The findings of well-established REAL science studies that are many decades old "suddenly" has absolutely no validity to the Jamestown Tribal clown circus~! HA~! Where have "we" seen all this BS before? Is there actually a "University of liars, cheats, and criminals of social engineering for profit & power", that actually teaches these methods of criminal behavior that "we" (Americans) are unaware of? If the criminals within our own community didn't have underhanded lies and deceptions, they would have nothing at all~! The Constitutional Republic and the common law legal system has already been "reinhabited" in America~! Soon these kinds of evil underhanded shenanigans will be firmly and aggressively challenged in the common law court system to terminate such outrageous criminal behavior by exposing it for what it really is to the general public AND to criminally prosecute those who have been engaging in such grossly unlawful activities, as well as to expose these "bad actors" to civil law suits personally for the damage that they have inflicted~! To me it is quite humorous that these criminals are too ignorant to see what is coming and it is right in their faces :) I hope that their lawyers do attempt to defend these criminally unconstitutional clowns and their unlawful unconstitutional acts, because by doing so they themselves will be judged to be "coconspirators" and therefore complicit in these many decades of unlawful activities~! They will learn that "Ignorance of the law of the land is no excuse"~! My guess is that these so-called "lawyers" will completely disappear like rats abandoning a sinking ship when they FINALLY see the trap that they have so willingly entered, leaving the clown circus abandoned to their own well-deserved fate, and I seriously doubt that any of them see what is coming~! What a delightful pity~! M

Very well written and informative thank you Jeff.

It would be nice to understand which part of which treaty they are referencing. At this point it seems like the buzz word to scare people into doing what’s best for the tribe. I’ve never heard them reference what treaty right they are referring to, but everything is infringing on a treaty right.

From the info I’ve been able to review, much of this is a huge stretch from what it actually says.

Expand full comment

The Treaty Rights are being interpreted and reinterpreted all the time. It depends on who can pay the best lawyer(s) and how much and how long. It still comes down to the power of money.

I believe Randy Walterson reply is appropriate. It's not about ALL tribes, it's about the "casino tribe" and the run-away power they have gained in our small community. This casino tribe has found a niche that is almost unheard of. They are buying up land, then turning it into TRUST lands with OUR funds. It is out of hand and is happening while we speak.

The leaders of JST are a smart group of profit & power minded people. Look how much money they're getting from the government farming red herring.

Can you imagine the potential for economic disaster fish pens could cause, and when it all falls apart, who pays, and how is reparation made?

Exchange the name for Walmart, or any other corporation driving profit over all else (especially the environment) and protests and articles abound. In this situation, crickets.

To be clear, Walmart is a greedy corporation. The JST is a benevolent charitable organization. Just ask around.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES IF THIS IS PROVEN?

ANSWER; GRAND JURY.....

The history of fish farming is abysmal. I doubt one could find a more human health detrimental

product in grocery stores. Norway has poisoned entire river systems to eradicate fish farming introduced disease killing off the indigenous fisheries. The complications and resultant disasters of fish farming efforts are too many to illicit here. Basically it is the intense concentration that foments disease normally kept in check by natural separation. To make the industry worse yet, the producers of the fish farm feeding pellets include toxic ingredients as well as antibiotic abuse. I applaud the current success of The Jamestown Tribe, but this is a very wrong path.

The Jamestown tribe has become one of the most greedy, self serving tribes over the years. They claim it’s their rights when it’s about the dollar. They have no regard for the environment.

It saddens me. My husband and daughter are jamestown descendants. His grandmother had to lie about her native american heritage decades ago to avoid boarding houses. This leaves us with a very narrow claimant of heritage. But I do know that many jamestown officials are so "white washed" that the greed pours out in these ways. Many " s'klallam native americans" do not possess the same mind set of other fellow tribes that tried to keep the blood stronger. Money drives the equation. The blood line flows through claims and documentation from the past and leaves out the sacrifices made by ancestors in the past that did what they had to survive. Kind of like all of the white people claiming " Cherokee" heritage. It gives some of us who believe in the older beliefs and conservatives of the past a bad name. Perhaps we should DNA test and reformulate the tribe all together. My heart breaks over the greed that this one tribe thrives on. You get back what you put out in the world. Creator would not approve of most measures.
