Thank you, Jeff, for highlighting this problem so effectively. My husband and I bought our property in 2016. We officially moved to here in 2021. It was in 2020 that I noticed something was different, odd, about Sequim, but I shook it off thinking I was just feeling the jitters about moving. That same feeling has never left me. Despite the negativity, I am hoping things will become better, and that's because of the spunk and grit of the people in Clallam County. I know what caused this downturn for CC (the benefit of an outsider looking in), and I intend to do what I can to reverse it. Hang in there everyone!
I can relate to Jo after moving here 9 years ago seeking better than Cali taxes & politics like MANY others did. Never did we realize our new home would fall prey to the same fate, worse even. This once productive thriving little area has the worse distinction which will out weigh families, futures, even retirement for so many. In 9 years we have seen no improvement, businesses closing, 4 tax increases in the last year, county revenue problems because of poor mismanagement, a tribe running our government, schools producing below average testing scores and a state, county & city that continues to harbor illegal aliens. Do you stay & continue to pay for all the crap or pack up & hit the road like many other families & businesses have done? The longer we stay the worse it’s getting on our pocketbook to continue to live here. It can’t be ignored or dismissed any longer unfortunately it is a reality now.
It's not just the pocketbooks...it's the quality of life...this is intentional destruction of the middle class and the commie-issioners are the local agents of it...living high on their salaries as they bring the county under total gov't dominion.
Bring THEM down! We can do better! The Will of the People shall not be infringed!
Wow! I sure am glad my commissioners are taking care of all the non producers in our community and ignoring the rest of us. Let us not go to the Safeway in Sequim after dark and have to have our head on a swivel watching for the bad actors. The tribe is taking more and more land off the tax roles and co-conspirator Ozias acts like he wants to be the eighth brother. "HELP WANTED" : Clallam County Commissioner. Apply CC Watchdog. Prerequisite: Allegiance to United States of America.
I think I'm safe in saying that Clallam County is becoming just as bad, or worse, in some ways than King County. Not surprising, given the number of retirees here from the Seattle metro area.
Let's call it for what it is... Democrats, like I was once, vote the "D". Plain and simple if you vote D you are morally superior. Damn the reality, they KNOW that the D will be 'kind'. The D will always be morally superior, it's just a fact... In 2025 you even have John Fetterman, a D from Penn coming out against this massively ignorant direction. Throw money at the 'kindness' of 'helping' addicts... Poor poor addicts need a 'come down' after a bad high. We've gone so far 'left' we are over the cliff of reason. Hundreds of thousands of people are dying from the drug invasion from Mexico and Canada originating in China. And what does the D believe? "Musk is the devil." Really that's the message??? Trump is a fascist. Really???
And when the D in you finally wakes up ask yourself, where are we from D politics? Where are we?
These unfortunate people dying by the thousands should truly be mourned. But throwing more drugs at them has done harm. Telling them don't worry the Little Pantry will keep you alive... Take your deadly drugs and when near death, just find a Little Pantry.
Can the D in you not see the harm? Go ahead be a D but don't accept the direction the D has taken.
I mean, John Fetterman says wake up. Now you wake up. Throw the Commssioners out. Go a new direction this one isn't working.
Very well written as usual Jeff, thank you. The more people I talk to the more people I hear are leaving the area for exactly the reason you are writing about. My wife and I are in that process of leaving ourselves. If the tribe had their way the whole peninsula would be tribal land. It doesn’t seem like they’ve thought about the fact that all of their money (profits) comes from people living on non tribal land. Not really sustainable. But maybe they learned from our commissioners.
This is a racket ! Drug houses are big business ! They might be bussing the addicts here too ? There is a book the commission should read ( San Fransicko ) by Michael Shellenberger , the commission could be responsible in those deaths ?
Me too...the best places left are prone to tornadoes and hurricanes and have poisonous snakes and insects...couldn't be much worse than the poisonous insects in our local and county gov't!🤪
You know what would reduce harm to drug users? Arresting both sellers and users of drugs. Arresting the sellers of drugs is useless when the county supports the demand by keeping the users on the streets. The county (and friendly organizations) even supplies “boofing” kits to users so they can absorb drugs anally when they run out of veins.
"According to a report from KONP last April, “Clallam County ranks among the top three counties in Washington state with the highest overdose death rates..."
The tribe pushed these reports when they were seeking to build the MAT clinic, letting the public know what a dire situation this was and how they were there to help. Now they're involved in giving addicts everything they need to stay addicted, while collecting up to many thousands of dollars from one client, in one visit, at the clinic. What's wrong with this picture?
Just so sad to see destruction of our once wonderful place in America. I don’t understand why people would rather see this place run into the dirt. They must be lining their pockets very well. People can’t sustain themselves on high taxes to just be thrown in the garbage by allowing drug use and people not being hell accountable. You are not helping anyone by your actions.
They're helping themselves with their emotions Jodi. This all has nothing to do with helping people. It's a bandaid for those with the emotional inability to look at someone suffering and accept that life is going to suck for someone. They can't have that in their heads, and use taxpayer money to push agendas that help them sleep at night. These people have no appreciation for the responsibility each human bears to decide their fate through self-determination.
What a great invitation for the homeless drug users …. "Welcome to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula… let us help you in your use of ala carte drugs… you can run them up your butt or stick them in your arm…. Not to worry we have Narcan at your disposal also… so you can start all over again!
Send a note of thanks or camp out on the lawn of City Hall and attend in person so say thanks to our County Commissioners in person… can’t wait to see you there!”
Jeff, thank you for running for office, winning. and continuing watch dog. It takes stamina to collect and portray the information you present to us. We continue to love living in CC and will help fight for individual freedom and transparency. Thanks again.
Gird your loins. Olympia is about to put more oppressive laws into place that will affect how our county runs, and our quality of life will suffer with their social reforms. From my perspective if you moved out here to retire, you only have so much energy to become involved. If you're working to survive and raise a family you only have so much energy to become involved. There's little oppositional organization out here, but there's enough time to let everyone know that we won't take it because it's a moment in time and then we can get back to our day. It's something to ponder given so many posts asking what can be done.

You're welcome. I pity the fool who is up against Denise in a fight. We are lucky to have her on our side.
Will you be sporting a Mohak anytime soon?( Mr.T)

Their votes didn't work in King County but hey let's just continue the same old bad direction in Clallam.
I am ticked off ALL of the time when it comes to the governance of this county!!!!! Constantly shooting themes in the foot! They are blind fools….
Trained usurpers!🧐

And two more people will be leaving later this year. :-( The corruption nauseates me.
Thanks to Jeff for yet another great exposé. (YAGE)
It's official? So sorry to hear that.
The local government has me constantly shopping Zillow for a ticket back out of this cesspool.
Me too...the best places left are prone to tornadoes and hurricanes and have poisonous snakes and insects...couldn't be much worse than the poisonous insects in our local and county gov't!🤪
Yep, I'm not leaving

Sequim's new motto should be "follow the money."
It's a scam...that's what's wrong...MILLIONS being spent on our dime for the tiny portion of those who have no ability to self-govern.
And they're being encouraged to come here...build it and they will come!
Say la vie...for now!🤪

Then there is those who are sociopathic and exploit the poor and addicted for the NWO agenda. Here we are!🤔
Keep after them Jeff !
Keep after them Jeff !
You got it!

We're so happy to have you here!!!
How do we.recall the "three stooges" ruining the county of Clallam!?
We just need the numbers! Keep working, envisioning for that!😎
Look up the applicable RCWs, and initiate a meeting of like minded people to explore how to proceed.
BTW, the "Three Stooges" had far more talent.
