This is a great interview and much needed article about the fair. Hopefully the politics has been resolved and the fair goes on as planned. Thanks, Laurie, for your many years of contributing to its success. Bless you and all your efforts and love of what you do.

Clallam county 4H and the fair have been a part of my families life since 1979 in one way or another. We have such a deep community vibe here.

Raising livestock and showing at the Clallam County Fair during my youth taught lessons in responsibility, accountability, appreciation, forged friendships, and developed social skills which have carried through my life, since. I could venture that raising rabbits and chickens, and the work that went into those ventures, kept me out of less-than-favorable situations and the consequences thereof. I wouldn't change a thing. To those who say that the Clallam County Fair "isn't much", I would respond with "you really missed out on important aspects of truly living and appreciating simple joys and heartache which become a life of quality. The "fundamental transformation" of our Country took an oblique to the extreme left, and that mistake is as clear as day. The fact that our Commissioners would even consider not supporting our Fair speaks volumes of their lacking sense of value, and character.

I love the fair, and all the animals. I love watching the horses and their riders during the competitions. The horse competitions were removed from the Orange County Fair in CA years ago, which is such a shame, because I believe all the animals and their showcases are the heart of any good fair. Keep it up, Clallam County! Do not let that fair end! I'm hearing rumors that they want to stop having the fair due to lack of funds. Mismanagement for sure!

What a wonderful piece highlighting all the wonderful things that our community offers in one place to go and enjoy…..I love seeing the kids take care of their animals & how proud they are of their accomplishments, all the crafts, sewing, flowers, photos, canned goods, horticulture, farming & projects that are entered. I encourage everyone to make something & win a ribbon or two….never know? Thank you Jeff and Laurie for stepping up and helping to make it all happen.

One of my favs is the history of the local Granges in the agriculture building. The friendly yet serious competition over pies, caning, produce and flowers have always been fun. Such pride in our local farming and growing community and the presentation of the hard work is top notch.

Fond memories as a youth at Fairs. As a City of Seattle product, rodeo events, clowns, scones, killer hot dogs and the many animals were constant entertainment and a reminder of differing lives.

I loved the cc fair. It was my first time going last year. My local family and friends said “don’t expect that much it’s not that great”. I was surprised! All the art submissions impressed me. There’s so many talented people around here. After living in many places people usually tend to fall their hometown short.

My wife grew up in a very small town in the midwest. Their county fair, while not extravagant, tied the people to the earth, and was the hub that connected them. I've been to the Western WA fair in Puyallup, but IMO it can't compare to CC's.

Jeff, you wrote a great article featuring a wonderful contribution to our county. With all of our youth focused on social media, it's nice to know there is a community event with many inspirational volunteers to educate our children about real animals, real food, and real connections to each other. Thank you all!

AWESOME article on the Clallam County fair Jeff Tozzer~!!! :)

Our small County fair is in fact much more important than is commonly appreciated~!

We never miss our fair here and we always have a great time just enjoying all of the animals and exhibits~! There are always some absolutely great folks at the fair here and that does in fact make our community stronger & better because of the important human connections that are made. As we are REAL scientists, we were EXTREMELY angry when our beloved County fair was attacked and closed during the ridiculous COVID scare of the corrupt government, but we knew that was just another level of assaults that the local criminals of humanity and incompetent fools in the government were orchestrating to very intentionally harm everyone~! These same local criminals of humanity and incompetents even recently again threatened to close our wonderful County fair THIS year, as I am sure that many folks remember, this time with the completely fraudulent excuse that the federal government has somehow caused the economic need to close and/or cut back upon the community's most important public areas, venues, and activities. The mafias are more subtle in their extortion rackets~! This is an "in-our-face" assault upon our most cherished and important activities and of course upon every Individual in our otherwise wonderful community~! The truth could not be any more obvious, so we hope and pray that everyone wakes up to stand against this attack together so that we can purge these evil people from our government and prosecute them for their long list of crimes~! I do hope that these criminals don't DARE attempt to screw around with our fair this year or ever again, because "we" are not going to tolerate their clear and obvious abuses anymore~!!! I would be willing to bet that of all of the activities that we regularly have in Clallam County, that our wonderful county fair is by FAR the most profitable and economically supportive of the businesses here, but the enormous value to the community can't be as easily quantified~! Great work~! Sincerely, Mike

Thank you, Paula Graham~!

Yes indeed, these underhanded "smiling thugs" within our local government are really low life evil bullies who "get off" on the power that they can and do abuse regularly~! I really don't know where they got the idea that they were supposed to act like conniving "mini dictators" who are empowered to deceive and manipulate the good folks of Clallam County, but the majority of Americans are over that socialistic garbage, and we are now demanding a completely transparent government that always serves and answers to the people~! From the very looks of them and especially judging upon how they regularly disrespect the overwhelming majority of good folks in our community, the ONLY thing that makes sense is that they are being "paid off" (bribed) to betray us, and/or they have always been dead set on a deeply sick, unlawful, and unconstitutional hidden agenda to very intentionally do harm to our community and all within it~! I find it very revealing that "we" are often told how hard they work in some sort of sick & evil intentional double speak to attempt to "guilt us" into being grateful for their flagrant abuses, however the REAL question is "Exactly what are they working so hard for and or towards"??? We definitely DON'T want these government management clowns working hard to deceive & manipulate us into accepting their highly questionable and evil agendas~!!! Thank God we have good folks like Jeff Tozzer who obviously do work hard to shed light on the "mini-evil empire" that these bullies intend to construct~! Have a great weekend my friend~! Sincerely, Mike

We're so very fortunate to have people like Laurie and Josh share their time for the benefit of the kids, and to help make the fair a benefit to our community. It's satisfying to watch a mind expand in a positive way, and I imagine this is what keeps them going back each year.

Thank you Laurie, Josh, and all the other volunteers who make it all tick.
