Charity is not the business of Governance. Philanthropists, churches and charitable organizations can address charity and Government must stick to the business of the Governed. What is the legal genomic requirement to be met to qualify as a treaty tribal member entitled to rights beyond those of the majority of U.S. citizens ? 100% ?, 50% ?, 25% ? or ? Ponder that and then ponder why there is any need to do so. This bloodline quest to discriminate is a complete absurdity. You are sovereign or you are not. You are U.S. citizens or you are not. Jumping back and forth to which status may best serve in the moment is not only unjust, it is the very definition of discrimination. The abused and their abusers no longer live. Those with indigenous ancestry like Jamestown and Elwah tribal members are friends and neighbors. They are not being best served by convincing them they need special rights beyond all other citizens of this nation.
Time for the federal government to raise the bar on who qualifies as so-called "Native American" and how many constitute a tribe. I"d say 25 percent NA bloodline and 1000 members of that group.
It's the tribes who decides on the % of blood quantum, not the federal government. It is a complicated process on how much the federal government allots to tribes per members, BUT grants aren't so picky. Claiming federal land and turning it into Trust lands does not necessary depend on the # of citizens of a tribe. The tribe submits papers to try and prove, to put it loosely, "that their ancestors depended" on the land in the past for hunting and fishing. Sometimes keeping the blood quantum higher with less members, concentrates the wealth. Jamestown tribe only has above 500 members. I worked for the IHS (Indian Health Services) for over 20 years in the West. Those tribes deserve more and are hurting! Most, out on the reservations, do not have electricity or running water and depend on limited sheep farming. The Jamestown tribe is THE wealthiest I have ever seen and are getting wealthier. They should share their wealth with less fortunate tribes under their claim of Native Americans Rights and the Tribal unity they purport.
Garry, thank you! As you said, nobody is against our friends and neighbors, nobody is against tribal agreements, nobody is against grants or funds to help people. But when it becomes imbalanced as you wrote, "entitled to rights beyond those of the majority of U.S citizens" are pushed through by lawyers constantly re-Interpreting agreements and finding "loopholes" in which the Jamestown tribe have used to their advantage and to the disadvantage of Mom and Pop businesses and land rights, then regardless, people do fight back. I imagine it will be when our 2026 property taxes come through next year.
Perhaps the money to be spent on signage in restrooms could be better used by spending that money to clean up those spaces that are used regularly by drug abusers.
Donna, you are so right. The drug dealers use the public restrooms too so I can hardly imagine what fluids get sprayed on the walls, most aren't cleaned but once a day. Can you picture what their fingers are picking up by brushing those surfaces?
Another great article Jeff. Thinking, their reckless spending habits will be curtailed slightly for the next four years or so. And they are hating it. I expect they will come up with some way to try and dig a little deeper in our wallets to make up the differance. Cant fix stupid......
Seems with all this money moving around thru these bureaucratic entities and foreign influence peddling agencies, theres an opportunity for for funds to be "lost" or inappropriatly "siphoned off" in the maze of nooks and crannies that these taxpayer dollars must wind thru. Somebody is making alot of money and it ain't the taxpayers.
Nice public comment Eric. It has been concerning to me that the Three Crabs flooding is not being discussed as an agenda item at the BoCC meetings. The last discussion was a few weeks ago and was done so as an item in For the Good of the Order where no public comment could be made. Something is very suspect here, and it's not all about smelly fish. You have given us a lot to digest today, Jeff. Thank you!
Commissioners talking -after- public comment is a growing trend. Yesterday, Commissioner Johnson gave a report about his meeting with Rep. Emily Randall -after- public comment had ended so no one had an opportunity to reply. He could have easily done it before public comment but chose not to.
Wait until they see the United Nations involved directly and not just by circular from ICLEI to NODC to the foreign agents making sure we come in third place.
Roses are red, Violets are Blue Commissioners hire poets, ignore the poor and say they don't know it. They pay for Braille, while the county goes to hell. The net pen foes puts the tribe in woes.
How can it get better, when the commissioners are our debtors?
As always Jeff what an eye opener. Maybe these commissioners will finally have to account for their decisions to us taxpayers but wait, they’ll just figure out some other way into passing it on to us taxpayers, they’re good at that. All I can hope for the end of this ridiculous spending and for the county to live within their budget like us taxpayers
You know what I remembered yesterday? In June, when it was announced that the paper mill was closing and 200 jobs were going to be lost, the commissioners hosted a big discussion with 15 or 20 community leaders. Ozias was the only one in that group who did not say a single word for two hours. Nothing. What a different story when, a few hours after hearing his NODC would have trouble paying its bills, he had quite a bit to say. We are getting a clear picture of his priorities.
I think the first thing our commissioners should do is make a proclamation stating a halt to ANY further monetary support to ANY organization that declares DIVERSITY, EQUITY, OR INCLUSION as part of it's mission statement. That would free up a lot of funds for NON-RACIST organizations. Might be a beginning to true LEADERSHIP.
I watched yesterday's Commissioner's meeting on their posted recording and noticed how open they are to public comment. Conversely I noticed that there were no responses to statements or questions asked of them. I would hope that there's public support for mandatory Q&A sessions all Commissioners must attend in-person on some sort of regularity that the Charter Review Commission (CRC) could address. It's up to the citizens to make their voices heard when the CRC holds town hall meetings. Hope to hear from you all there.
we (citizens) have been asking for this all last year and were fortunate to have had one, the budget meeting. I think they are a little shy and afraid they might be eaten by the boogeyman.
Why is the government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE actively working AGAINST the people and IGNORING THE PEOPLE? My GOD, we need to educate the voters of Clallam County! ArghhhH!
And DOGE hasn't even gotten started yet. This is what I've been praying for. Democratic politicians in this state have made grant writing an artform for decades. Fifty years ago I worked at the South King County Multi Service Center as an afternoon receptionist. I came up with the idea of connecting local businesses with transients who needed work, mostly abandoned teens and, sadly, military vets. I ran it by the director and we came up with a cheap flyer with our contact info and got them mailed to local businesses, mostly trades and restaurants. They could call whenever they needed someone and we would contact the folks who signed up on a worker list in house. It was simple and it worked! When I left at the end of the school year the director was busy writing a grant for federal funding. She got that grant and then partnered with local bureaucrats to help launch something bigger. Eventually Jobline morphed into Job Corp (remember that?) It was adopted nationwide. Yet, even though it was a great program, funding dried up. I've never actually looked to see why but it isn't hard to guess. Crafty bureaucrats learn quickly how to suck funds from the Federal Teat but they seem to think it's a joy-ride that should continue indefinitely. It's even worse now that printing fiat money and running it through Wall Street is all the rage. The grant amounts can be F-----g astounding. Makes for a whole lot of power plays and a whole lot of flowery talk. They better hope Bill Gates comes to save the day cos the Dream Team is onto their shit. Did anybody catch Maria Cantwell at RFK's confirmation hearing? She couldn't say enough about how Bill threw a bunch of money at UW and they came up with, according to her, the best Covid plan in the nation. Children's Health Defense has been litigating in Washington State to help the doctors and nurses who were fired for not taking the jab. They're sueing the Washington State Medical Board, also, for taking the licenses of certain doctors who spoke out about mandated jabs. They're having no luck in our courts but are certainly not planning to stop here. RFK looked like he wanted to puke the whole time she was talking.
Anyway, nice talking to you all and. remember, DOGE is not just coming. It's here, it's live, and it's getting ready to rock! I don't think it will be long before your commissioners will be forced to listen. Please keep fighting :}
The 3 crab residents that are effected by flooding could have a legit suit against C.County if negligence is proved, savvy county attorneys would be wise to find a possible solution to a c,county blunder rather than a bunch of massive lawsuits plus having to fix the problem.
My first comment would be that these so-called "community leaders" constantly prove their total incompetence in just about every possible way, but obviously they completely failed to see the historic movement of the majority of the American people against the sick criminally unconstitutionally big government agenda~! What colossal ignorance~! Now, after years of pushing ahead on their extremely questionable ill conceived "pet projects" that the majority of local folks here in our community have been clearly against, these same grossly ignorant failed leaders complain that the new leadership at the federal level, that was clearly coming, has resulted in their devilish social engineering plots "suddenly" losing the funding that they assumed would come to bail them out by once again milking the American taxpayers. What next? These criminal extortionists in government will AGAIN come after the local folks for higher local taxes and fees? What a shock! Ha! It would be all too easy to assume that these government clowns were simply innocently "out of touch with reality" and didn't see the HUGE movement of the vast majority of Americans demanding their freedom from intrusive out of control government everywhere across America. That would be disgustingly insulting to all of us who have for decades protested loud and clear against these same fools who have again and again chosen to ignore the will of the majority of people in their own community (not to mention the will of the vast majority of Americans).
My second comment would be that our wonderful community here should NOT in any way be concerned with the local tribal governments economic concerns, especially as the local tribal government has so clearly proven their lack of concern, compassion, and care about well-being of the vast majority of folks in our local community. We as a community should care and support all within the community, including the local American Indian folks, however the out-of-control tribal government and their highly questionable closed-door meetings & secret deals with our local community government "leaders", that has numerous times clearly stated that the majority of folks in our community need to take a "back seat" to the tribal governments' unconstitutional agenda, is a complete outrage~! How dare the tribal government try to lay such a "guilt trip" on the majority of folks here who compassionately support ALL folks in our community~! There were many honest "arm's length" land purchases throughout history that transpired and comparing those to today's current values in any way is not only completely insane, but against all common-sense economic reality. I have been a professional real estate analyst for many decades, among many other hats that I have worn, so it is absolutely criminal to now complain about any real estate (land) transactions of history long past, especially when the good folks of today had absolutely nothing to do with them~! Enough with the racial divide tactics that these criminals in government always deploy to commit their crimes~!
Lastly, but far from the least, I have to applaud ANY efforts to disclose, inform, and address the human trafficking and enslavement crimes that exist~! Yes, that means that I "may" actually be showing my appreciation for the local government management, which is unfortunately rarely what I can honestly do! Although I need to point out that a local government public awareness effort would be FAR more necessary and effective than public bathroom "billboards" that were supposedly posted so the victims of enslavement can get help, I am not against ANY effort to reveal this horrific problem. I have been very surprised by the last several years of reports about human trafficking that I have been monitoring, and I am not sure how big the problem really is, however every single American MUST now come together to end any form of human trafficking and enslavement without exception~! What "we" tolerate being done to others outside of their free will, we will eventually bring upon ourselves~! A country (society) that tolerates any form of human enslavement NEVER deserves freedom and rights of its Individual's~! These crimes may well be FAR greater than anyone currently assumes and there is no time to waste to end them regardless of the cost~! Just spend the money for the greatest effect~!
Get the local communist rag to publish the bs the commissioners have done and do the henchmen the NGO’s…. Canada is falling and they and their propaganda will too!!! THEN THE PEOPLE WILL AT LEAST QUESTION WHY TAXES ARE WHERE THEY ARE!!!!!!
Yes, it would be excellent to get the local "newspaper" to actually print some honest and important news for a change, however I doubt that is going to happen because that "communist rag" has not been worth being in the bottom of a bird cage for many years~! From your comment I am guessing that you may remember that the local rag was sold to a Canadian clown show not long ago, so once again "we" (Americans) were sold out to extremely questionable interests. Yes, the criminal Canadian government is crumbling, so maybe we will have a chance to get our local paper back sometime in the future. Maybe we should start a new newspaper that actually tells the truth and prints newsworthy information that folks in our community need more now than ever? I and some others are very interested in doing just exactly that if the opportunity arises~! You are absolutely correct that folks will be infinitely better off if they can get a real news source, as opposed to the complete garbage that has been spewed by the mainstream media and all of their puppet shills for decades now. The TV news stations are ALL captured by the criminals of humanity now, and I believe that over 80% of the print news as well. Radio stations really suck at news reporting because they too get their "newsfeed" from AP and/or Reuters, both of which are also controlled by the same criminals of humanity who are assaulting America and Americans to destroy our beloved country and as many Americans as they possibly can~! I can absolutely prove every word that I say, and I am sure that you and many great American Patriots can also back me up and add even more truth from your experiences~! We didn't get into this terrible mess overnight, so it will take some time to correct the course of our country. The good news is that the federal government of America is currently being changed, and things are going pretty well now that there are some folks leading the country who respect The Constitution~! Very disappointing. I'll be back next week with a list of comments.
Me too.
Could an agenda template be addressed in the county charter, Jeff? It's apparent the kommissioner kids need strict rules.
Wait until they see the United Nations involved directly and not just by circular from ICLEI to NODC to the foreign agents making sure we come in third place.

And have a broken relationship.

Given the CCWD's focus on local issues I'd ask that we keep discussions to our local concerns.
If we let the discussions here move away from the changes we're looking for, the focus will be lost. They're distractions, and meant to destabilize.
MK, I agree, I wandered a bit, its best to stay on track ; )
I let myself get sucked in and derailed also.
