Doesn’t surprise me that they flatly refuse to release information. I mean this must be a national secret for the position….. NOT. Yet using taxpayer funds you would think it would be required? Now that DOGE is up and running, I am seeing how these NGO’s operate and the amount of fraud, waste and abuse is overwhelming. Will Clallam County have a DOGE team at some point in time? Thanks again Jeff.
It appears that silencing anyone asking questions and seeking transparency has become a common thread among many non-profits, tribes, and elected officials. Don’t pay any attention to the man behind the curtain.
One of the tools for the One World agenda is changing the names of organizations that have been established as benevolent "charities", often only subtle name changes, or adding "funders" and "partners) The one that stands out for me is what was once called United Good Neighbors (UGN - regional) having morphed into the United Way (worldwide), then The Combined Federal Campaign (national) The United Way funds numerous non-profits, which is a great way to start a business, ensuring ongoing funding and grants. NGOs and non-profits are the means by which to fundamentally transform our Republic into a Socialist Democracy, which began long ago. Transparency is an effective term to faciliate agendas, and can easy be used out of context to deceive volunteers and donors, who are looking for a "larger purpose in life", are often quite gullible, and are passionate about ______. I used to volunteer until I was presented a work schedule and Team Leader who had no KSAs (Knowledge, Skills or Abilities) but had been appointed by "management".
Perhaps I’m missing something here, the website certainly is. Jeff could you give the masses an overview of HFH? This project in Sequim seems to be so much of a stretch from the Habitat For Humanity I knew in the past 40 years. I’ve known them as more of a case by case, single home, helping deserving families through “sweat equity” and volunteerism, hometown pride sort of thing. Is HFHCC doing a subdivision? Are they becoming “players” in the tight housing market? I appreciate local contributions and volunteers to help, but isn’t this small-town non-profit getting a little big for its britches? In my younger days I’d be in line to pound nails, move dirt or help where I could. I’d appreciate a little more information on this one site in Sequim.
Hopefully, someone reading knows a little more history than I do.
Growing up here, my recollection is what you are talking about: people working evenings and weekends on their homes to get them finished. I was surprised when HFHCC went from building small pockets of homes to this 40+ home development. Looking at their FB page, big groups of our local HFH leaders fly to DC, get photos with politicians, and rub shoulders. I'm surprised by all of it.
I don't know a lot, but here's what I've learned in the last 19 months: when people or organizations say "leave us alone," "respect our privacy," "don't look here," "we're too busy to talk to you," and "what you're doing is hurting the (children/puppies/homeless/impoverished)" it usually means they are hiding something they don't want you to see.
The opposite of transparency is secrecy.
All I'd like to know is if a special interest in our community, one that has a per capita income exponentially larger than that of the average Clallam County resident, has figured out how to get homes built for its members without having to pay for them.
Colleen Robinson spoke at a recent council meeting, whining they might lose grant money because it's taking so long to get to "shovel ready" (they have to be at a certain point before they can collect that money). She blamed the city and their rules after they bent over backwards to help them get the grant (it had to be completed by the city). I was surprised when the city attorney told her (in my words) the rules are the same for everyone and those with experience would have been on schedule. Clearly they should stick to one home at a time, the way it was meant to be.
Ken I also thought HFH was about neighbors and individuals helping people in need on a case by case basis. I know it was 40 years ago when my brother helped to build a home for a needy family. I would certainly not volunteer any of my resources to build a large housing unit that only benefits one entity that isn't in dire financial need of housing.
From HFH's perspective they have a chance to do MORE, MORE Quickly than ever before but if you look at Rick Dickinson's statement, which Jeff included, it is obvious that DEI is the main goal...and that would be great if the recipients of the DEI initiatives were benefitting in a wholistic way rather than NGO/Gov't handouts where the people have no skills, training, ability to actually create community or to help themselves in any meaningful way.
Those of us who still have a Middle-American life for the most part got it by persevering in jobs/careers which required any number of skill sets to manifest our 'reality'.
'The world' now needs programmed workers more than innovative thinkers and multi-talented craftspeople, so it is getting ready for that reality.
No one can say where all these 'low income' people (of which I am one) are going to get living wage work in order to 'afford' these homes which will still have to be North of $300,000. We all know what happens when you just 'give' property to those with no stake in the game, no practical skills of caring for things and no incentive to do better.
Communism, as practiced in the world is 'State Capitalism' where most of the wealth flows to the top of the pyramid(s) just like it always has. "Meet the new boss...same as the old boss."
We are a captured state and county. Under the guise of environmentalism and equity we are being fully 'communized' in the lowest sense of the word.
Taking from those who have and giving to those who don't IS Communism.
I don't have the answers to homelessness, displacement and addiction and violence but pretty sure coddling isn't going to uplift anyone.
The 'answers' lay in Higher Law, Spiritual and physical accountability and physically and mentally healthy and fit persons but I have no idea how that is going to come about with secretive, despotic 'rulers' forcing things on people. TRUTH, JUSTICE, LIBERTY AND TOUGH LOVE!😊
My understanding of HFH is "sweat equity" is a contingency for qualification. When I asked Danny Steigler about this important contribution, I received a vague answer. The politicians with whom HFHCC are associating need to come here and engage in a Town Hall. Let's open the secrets. In the meantime, no one donate to HFHCC until we get all of our questions answered.
Why can’t they build their own housing on their own purchased tax free land? There are signs Welcome to Our Land…Tribal Citizens Only….erected on their properties……WHY?
Please ask yourself WHY, over and over again, WHY?
And why is it a ONE WAY STREET?
The street OZIAS wanted to steal from CLALLAM COUNTY at taxpayers expense….he was unsuccessful but it costed taxpayers a lot more money to keep than it should have.
Aleta, I did work for the IHS Indian Health Services for over twenty years in the Four Corners Area of Ariz. The Navajo Nation area that they were given, absolutely is a huge area without water, decent roads or electricity. Most had mobile homes, which don't stand up to the brutal heat. Electricity was by generators. Water has to be brought in. The nearest gas stations were from one to three hours away on dusty ill maintained roads. The Tribes in and around Clallam County live in complete luxury compared to their "brothers and sisters" they claim as Native Americans. Why don't they help each other instead of hoarding the loot?

The San Carlos Apache Tribe built two casinos. A disaster to that Tribe, at least I think so.
I don’t have a specific answer to your question but the appearance is bigger than twice I believe. If you take into consideration all the NGO’s involved in a particular project, there isn’t just one there are many multiples up and down the flow chart. Most you have to dig for to find as you are well aware of. They may all receive tax dollars for their part of the project pie depending what their role is & their involvement. My answer is a perspective and comes from my experience. The Muckleshoot tribe provides housing & tribal services for their tribe not just parks & beaches like here. Tribes elsewhere also provide housing. If you google…tribes who provide housing for native Americans….it gives a detailed look at the role of tribes and organizations in Native American housing….so there are a lot of players in this game.
There will be more crises (manufactured or real) to exploit as communism rolls out.
Recommend the books from Epoch Times about How The Specter of Communism is Ruling Our World. This is not new information just a lot of information distilled into one place. Most of us were not taught any of this, On Purpose!🤫
Washington State has 4.1% of the total population that identify as American Indian/Alaska Native -- alone or in combination with another race. This amounts to 313,633 -- out of a total population of 8,024,630. Statewide it is under 4%. Meanwhile, we have 24% of all Washingtonians (over 1.76m) have an income below 200% of the federal poverty level, while 18% (434,000) are skimming that poverty rate.
In 2023, 18.5% of children were living in poverty in Clallam County. 11.9% of all households in Clallam county qualify as "persons in poverty". Clallam's demographics (2021) White 87.1%, Hispanic/Latino 6.6% American Indian/Alaska Native 5.6%
Meanwhile, I thought the reason for a sovereign nation was for "the tribe" to aid their citizens in the form of Indian Law protections, access to tribal courts, education opportunities, housing programs, social services as well as FASS (Financial Assistance and Social Services). Tribes with casinos and resorts -- are not required but many offer per capita payments to all members -- (The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux shares the wealth to their 480 members with a monthly payment of $84k to each adult -- this is $1.08 million a year.) Besides BIA there are other federal agencies that service the American Indian population. Indian Health Services (IHS) from the Department of Health and Human Services, has a wide range of programs, TANF, SSI and food stamps have completely separate requirements than the general population. The point is --- these are only available to tribal members, not all poor people.
I could have applied for my tribal affiliation (grandmother was St. Regis Mohawk) before the casinos (when they changed the blood quantum) but, never did. IF I had I would have had free tuition from MANY universities in California (including UC). I could have gone to many museums free. I could have had free tuition in Michigan or Montana. There are benefits for inclusion as a tribe, that are unavailable for all other of American's of color, or without color.
My grandmother's tribe is wealthy -- with its casino Akwesasne, one of the first tribal casinos in the country.
In NY State the tribe is permitted to operate gaming and gambling operations on their lands -- but must pay 25% of the slot profits to the state. The State divides that, keeps 75%, and gives 25% between the counties near the casino. This amounted to $5m in 2022.
Washington has no profit-sharing agreement with the casinos. In 2009, the two dozen casino's were making $1.6 in gross revenue -- but nothing goes to taxes. Some tribes make limited payments to local governments -- subject to agreements and negotiated for fixed amounts (usually 2% -- to local governments or to "non profits"). And, unlike non-tribal businesses (who pay B&O taxes, even if no profit is made) the tribe's 2% is only if a profit is made, and even then, where the money is directed is under tribal discretion.
In Washington State a tribes contribution to local government and their casino profits can remain a secret. In 2005, Gov. Chris Gregoire ordered a limited profit sharing agreement cancelled -- which would have netted state coffers $42 to $490 million.
Native tribes in Washington may have struggled years ago, but now with an array of tax-free businesses all tribes are doing well financially. State leaders should negotiate an agreement -- instead of focusing on more taxes on everyone else. "Tax the rich" should include the most wealthy among us -- the Casino Tribes.
Mimi, there is another side of tribal sovereignty that we don't see. The citizens of the sovereign nation have no voice. They cannot oppose the leaders and can't go to a higher court, the tribe council is the high court. The members seem united only on paper. Many oppose the fishing rules, land rules, etc. but have no voice. It's the council members who tell them "it's my way or the highway" Truly, there are native people who want to speak out but can't.
The sovereign nation can be oppressive is a fact that never comes up. But, I do know that with the St Regis tribe ...the elders were all booted out/voices silenced when the casinos came in.
Thank you very much for bringing that up. Oppressors from within... is a chilling reality.
Look into the Indian Child Welfare Act. It is horrible. A native mother has no rights to where her child goes if she gives up her child for adoption. There are voices behind the voice of what we read, only they are suppressed and never heard from. The Jamestown tribe is only represented by the tribal council, as are many tribes. Thanks for responding.
I actually know about this... the fostering rules, open adoptions and kinship care.
Children with a "low percent quantum" have been snagged in this wide net, since there is no requirement to prove tribal membership. ( ICWA doesn't have any quantum, spelled out --its up to the tribe to determine "eligibility".) It can be a "kangaroo court" -- for non-tribal adoptive parents, and grandparents and step-parents -- I have heard some horror stories.
The idea was good, but in 1976, no one saw how it could be weaponized. Its the problem with a dual jurisdiction black hole.
Kinship care of tribal children - is a whole other complex issue that most people don't know about. I have heard many, many issues with financially struggling tribal members providing kinship care of children, but without foster funds stipends because they're unable to pass the state foster licensing criteria/background check. (Without state sponsored licensing... "oh well" you become invisible). The States are "all good" because they don't have to pay out, better for their budget. The Tribes often don't offer services because the children aren't accepted as "enough" blood quantum.
Holy cow…. Insider info… wonder how the 200 some odd tribal members feel about their tribe… this casino reminds me of the old Mine owners in north Virginia etc… Company store …. Scenario, smh
It’s time to stop donating to Habitat for Humanity until they get back to their former background. Housing was for low income in Clallam County not for Natives who get federal funding for housing. Least we forget they are sovereign nations with their own money coming in from casinos and other business’s.
"Their" is not their money, it is our money and yes they should use it to take care their sovereign nations in the US equally among the 500 + tribes....one tribe should not profit while another tribe suffers.
Yeah, here we are. Back to the who'd you vote for thing.... I realize my small contributions by shopping there dont amount to much. But its the principle.
This housing project in carlsborg has to be for tribal members why else would officials avoid questions about 'who will be eligible for the houses built'.If the land was purchashed under tribal definition then you can bet when possible the taxed property will be converted to tax 'Exempt property which takes more $$$ off clallam county tax roll. All these free entitlement programs are taxpayer funded one way or another and $$$ could be cut off if project $$$ has not been fully received which would put project in a financial debacle. But as usual the tribe would expect taxpayers to keep funding project until finished.Clallam county has 'NO' buisiness funding any tribal housing that is what 'Bureau of Indian Affairs-BIA' is for, taxpayers already pay for housing on designated indian reservations that gives them tax exemption housing. Now tribes are turning public land-housing into more tax exemptions causing more tax short falls for counties.County commissioners have the authority to spend taxpayer $$$ as they see fit and clallam county taxpayers are in big trouble with current reckless commissioners that seem to have bad intentions for taxpayers. It would be in clallam counties best interest to see commissioners evicted asap.
Improving standard of living, while admirable, is different from 'improving lives' which involves the whole of the being, psychological/mental, physical/nutritional/medical, Spiritual. I believe people are Trying to work in all these areas but leaving out any part compromises the whole and I don't see any Wholistic system, I see a lot of separated components competing with each other for attention, funding, etc. 'Specialization' has divided us...we need renaissance type educational systems...until modern times physicians were musicians...statesmen were philosopher/poets/inventors...politicians were successful entrepreneurs...thankfully we now have Some of that in higher gov't now...hope and pray for best outcomes...gonna be a little bumpy turning the ship-of-state in a storm.😊
Habitat for humanity is being used by local tribe for beneficial needs.I t would be interesting to see the laws and stipulations that are supposed to be used when dealing with taxpayer $$$.
This is not how Habitat for Humanity works in other places I've lived. I went back today to their websites and nothing has changed, it's still Habitat building one house at a time, no partnerships with others. I've lived where local non-reservation tribes partner with HUD to build homes for their tribe members. Each tribe member had to first buy the land, and have a clean title to sign over to the build. The Tribe had a crew that built the home following HUD plan guidelines. The home was not given free, the tribe member had to make payments for a period of years before they could sell it and then the home was advertised as HUD built home. Very different from what we see here. The players in our county have learned to use grants that work with NGOs and Indian Affairs. So, if the Carlsborg Habitat project is going to be built with tax payer funds and partnered with JKT and NGOs connected to our commissioners then they are not actually following Habitat guidelines. It's Habitat by name only. The project should NOT be using taxpayer funds and our commissioners should not be involved in the project. DOGE would have a field day with what's going on here...
The absurdity of of discriminating to end discrimination must stop. Discrimination can never not exist. Skin tone and/or ancestry are tiny examples of the innumerable ways we discriminate. Aroma, weight, type, taste in food and the "things" you prefer, personality, gait, pronunciation, hair, etc. are all discrimination examples. I see no value in trying to convince someone they are inadequate or less than by giving them something out of compassion for their perceived inadequacy. Looking at the misnomer "Native American" is an example. Any person born on the continent of America, ( Alaska to Cape Horn ), is a native American. I speculate Aboriginal is closer, but looking at the history of human migration we are discriminating on a basis of lineage and how long it can be traced to the same area. Why ? What exact statistical criteria must be met for a human to certifiably be Indian, Native or Aboriginal ? Again, why does that matter ? Inbreeding has been generally proven to be health and survival detrimental. Why are we encouraging it ?
In my college rooming youth my daker skin toned fellow residents called me / Caucasians "gray dudes". I was a lighter gray and they were a darker gray which at the end of the day did not and does not mean anything. We were all just dorm-mates.
Lady Liberty is a symbol of Morals and Ethics overlaying Freedom meant to guide us to a truly just world...but they aren't mandatory like they want DEI to become.
These housing projects are also likely to be used for 'unlawful immigrants'.
'Nozias' has openly stated we need to get ready for many homeless/indigent people which, of course is George Soros' specialty. NWO, Agenda 21+++, ICLEI, etc.
Mandatory 'social justice' should be interesting!🧐

Wow, that is a VERY interesting point.
What a complete mess.
That's chilling to read.
Thanks for your candor! Doing what we can while hoping things are better on 'the other side'!😊
You mean like BOCCC and Us?😱
Holy cow…. Insider info… wonder how the 200 some odd tribal members feel about their tribe… this casino reminds me of the old Mine owners in north Virginia etc… Company store …. Scenario, smh
I believe they mostly feel similarly to how we feel about ours...same model, different generation.🤪
Golden Rule...Who has the Gold Makes The Rules.😱
It’s time to stop donating to Habitat for Humanity until they get back to their former background. Housing was for low income in Clallam County not for Natives who get federal funding for housing. Least we forget they are sovereign nations with their own money coming in from casinos and other business’s.
Their money should take care of their people.
We seem to be out of touch with reality.
The government will spend your money for you whether you donate or not.
The biggest problem is they are spending great-great-grandchildren's money.
'They' are borrowing to pay the interest on national 'debt'. Not a good look!👀😜
"Their" is not their money, it is our money and yes they should use it to take care their sovereign nations in the US equally among the 500 + tribes....one tribe should not profit while another tribe suffers.
Disgusting. I wont be spending another dime at HFH.
Sorry. Don’t have to because our government will spend your money for you.
I hate that you're right, Jeff!🤓
Even if I wanted to *just be proud* that my tax-dollars are being spent to improve lives, I can't without the outreach and the information.
Is it really improving standards of living or is it creating a welfare mentality?
Habitat for humanity is being used by local tribe for beneficial needs.I t would be interesting to see the laws and stipulations that are supposed to be used when dealing with taxpayer $$$.
Why bother with laws and stipulations when you can just make them up or ignore them as needed?😝
Bingo
Thank you for more up-to-date info. I really like reading everyone's contributions.
Yeah, and most of us aren't even WHITE...technically we're PINK!😂
In my college rooming youth my daker skin toned fellow residents called me / Caucasians "gray dudes". I was a lighter gray and they were a darker gray which at the end of the day did not and does not mean anything. We were all just dorm-mates.
Lady Justice is a symbol of unbiased justice and is meant to serve ALL people, not just one person or entity.
