Jeff, how many corrections to French's statements does this make? I've lost count. I agree that Ozias pays more attention to WA state affairs than to his Couny's affairs. Hearing his report to the Board each week always concerns me that his hand shaking with the Olympia Reps is making him starry eyed. And I whole-heartedly disagree with any government spying on my driving routes! No one's business. Thank you, Jeff, for ensuring CC is in the know!
Ozias has one aspiration is a position outside Clallam County following the other JST candidates into U.S., Washington State elected and appointed positions. He has absolutely no interest in Clallam County and is only raiding it for his only personal gain. It is both frustrating and embassing.
I've lost count too, and I don't think he cares. He's the next one running for election and I have a feeling he's a career politician. You're welcome Denise, thanks for attending all the meetings this year.
This, on X: Excellent that it is getting national/global coverate!
Indian tribes run amok in rural NW Washington State
Abusing their "sovereign nation" status, granted by a series of flawed Congressional acts, Tribes get filthy rich from casino operations and literally devastating the salmon populations through unlimited illegal (to us) gill net fishing, paying no taxes, then using the wealth to buy politicians and and furthering laws to benefit them at taxpayers' expense. They also use their wealth to buy up real estate, often for pennies on the dollar through zoning changes, and take these properties out of the tax rolls, pushing the deficit onto existing taxpayers. Thus, the tribes get wealthy while entire towns, communities, and commerce decline. It is clear that their ultimate goal is to re-take all the land that they traded or lost through the settlement of America. This is but one example of the many, many, abuses of these Congressional acts, intended to allow the Tribes to follow traditions of hunting and fishing for sustenance. but are now being abused for commercial exploitation. In the West, they are even demanding that green-energy-producing dams are removed so they can wantonly devastate another few percent of the salmon, which apparently are too stupid to use fish ladders and bypass canals as fish traditionally do. This is not limited to Washington State, but includes California, Oregon, and other states.
Folks should take note of the Blyn standard of salmon restoration. They swallowed Chicken coop road creek for developments. They permanently altered both Dean creek and Jimmycomelately.
This is getting way out of hand. How many S'Klallam's are there. You mean the Elwha S'Klallam does not lay claim to that area or they are not as hypocritical since they have also altered the Elwha for their existence too. Ron is getting too big for his hypocritical britches.
Equal protection has to mean something at some point.
Retiring for oligarchs means they fade from public view but still manipulate and control from behind the curtain. He won't go away...and do you believe/think there isn't going to be someone just as rapacious filling in the slot. Pun intended.
Ron Allen had announced in the Dec Jamestown newsletter that he was going to retire this year to "concentrate on his family" That announcement has since disappeared. Dang it!
Something is going on. The Dec issue of Native News Online sent to readers and relatives, did not sound very optimistic...."I recently attended the 2024 White House Tribal Nations Summit in Washington DC where tribal leaders from across Indian Country met with members of the Biden administration....reflecting on this meeting is bittersweet. I realized that the era of Native leadership in the federal government that we've experienced under the Biden administration will soon come to an end. But I still have hope, because I know in American politics, the pendulum always swings back and forth. And our people are resilient..."
Allen has to continually be the victim otherwise how could he lay the case? “We need more”. Our federal government is to blame for the 8 billion for salmon culverts. Keep the chaos alive in Washington one way or another so no one will notice what is really going on there and locally. Thanks Jeff for keeping it under the microscope.
Key Provisions of Fuel Tax Agreements, as Authorized by Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax RCW 82.36.450 and RCW 82.38.310. There are two types of fuel tax agreements to the Tribes also called the 75/25 agreement.
1. Tribes agree to purchase the fuel sold at tribally-owned retail stations from state-licensed fuel distributors with the state fuel tax included. Tribes report their purchases to DOL and receive 75% of the state fuel tax revenue collected as a refund and the state retains 25%.
2. Per Capita Agreement- is computational formula based on the average per capita consumption of gasoline by Washington state drivers (as determined by the Washington State DOT) the # of enrolled tribal members located on or near the reservation (reported by the tribe and commonly called the tribal service area) and the current state fuel tax rate. The result is an estimate of the amount of fuel tax most likely paid by tribal members purchasing fuel on the reservation. This formula provides an annual amount of fuel tax to be refunded to each tribe.. All per capita agreements were entered into prior to the 2007 legislation.
Maybe we are all experiencing what other nations have had to endure with the U.S. gov't corrupting their sovereignty and wheeling and dealing behind the curtain.
We have been the beneficiaries of empire building systems left over from the Annunaki system...see the Bible stories of the Elohim, The Sky People, The Fallen Ones, The small 'g' gods, etc.
That is history...we will continue to repeat it until WE THE PEOPLE understand and stand for Truth, Justice, Liberty.
We may not be able to fight city hall...but we can disband it and start over if we have the will.
When one entity leverages government subsidies to dominate the market, it harms the broader community by reducing competition and local tax revenue. This isn't about tribal sovereignty—it’s about fair economic practices. There should be anti-monopoly regulations or adjustments to these subsidies to ensure they don’t allow any single group, tribal or not, to exploit the system at the expense of others in the community. A thriving economy requires balance, and right now, that balance is missing. This list of examples only grows longer. Hospital, gas station, construction, and now closing a 115 room hotel in PA so JST can expand or LET can build their own? Our community is already economically depressed, suffering from over taxation and still playing shell games trying to find funds to survive. The austerity measures are only going to get worse.
Step #6 of Ten Planks of Communism: 6. Centralization of the means of communication and 'transport' in the hands of the State. Hasn't the State already ceded land to the Tribes? Will we be charged to cross those lands? Do we already cede taxes (grants) to repair unknown grievances? Should we next give all power and land to the Tribes? Don't tread on me.
For the S'Klallam Tribe, i tis over $16,000/person. Nice covid windfall, eh? And that's JUST the Covid perks. Add in the gas, wanton fish harvests, and all the rest and the tribal members do not have to work, but can afford to hire non-tribal members to do the work for them, as they kick back and get high.
I worked for the IHS (Indian Health Service) for over 20 years. I don't know about sitting back and getting high, but I do know the elders continually complained about their youth not knowing the value of a work ethic and not having to work has made them lazy and selfish. The government, for nontribal people, finally put a cap on the number of children it would pay welfare on. Thus the number of welfare recipients declined. Somehow, I think, the same cap should be put on a Tribes entitlements and above that cap, they need to be taxed and pay back into the system.
I think everyone is just waiting on the promises of the Trump administration, especially his new BFF Musk, who gives out mixed messages! From January for the next 4 years will be a coaster ride.
Obviously, Ron Allen needs to go back to school to learn some history and the difference between the OLD local "traditional tribe's territory" (which he seems to believe still includes every square inch of land in the area) VS the property rights of the actual fee simple landowners who have paid good money for their property AND the annual extortion tax to the government~! As an Individual who has American Indian ancestry, I am sad for the way that all American Indians were treated by the criminals in government well over one hundred years ago and over the past several decades ALL Americans, regardless of race, have been treated just as terribly by todays criminals in the government if not even worse. It is time to address the criminals in government at all levels and from the federal government right down to the local clowns who dare to violate the will and rights of the people every opportunity that they get~! There are many of us who know that the last "election" was nothing but a scam of the criminals in government who have rigged the state's "mail in voting ONLY" system for decades~! Get over yourself Ron Allen and stop acting as if anyone alive today owes you a damn thing! We don't~! You are abusing your limited authority and restricted tribal rights and violating the rights and freedoms of the vast majority of folks in the community, so back off and be happy that you get to operate a highly questionable "business" that pays little to no tax, does nothing but harms the community with unwanted and unneeded drug addiction facilities, mental health facilities, and encourages terrible gambling & drinking addictions~!
Mark Ozias and the criminally unconstitutional fools who seem to believe that the American Constitution is their own personal toilet paper have lost their minds if they think for one second that the government in Washington state is going to force the folks into some insane evil Marxist trap to install tracking devices on our vehicles so they can continue to extort money, control and limit our freedoms and dominate free Americans~! You criminally corrupt government workers work for the people; you do NOT lawfully dictate and oppress the people~! ALL laws, rules, mandates, and regulations that violate The American Constitution are INSTANTLY null and void the second that any of these fools in government put them in writing~! We do NOT comply~! Merry Christmas~!!! M
Whites & ennis creek salmon recovery project is projected to cost how much?over $$100 million that takes out a newer hotel, two small creeks that never produced many salmon-steelhead because not enough water but spending over 100 million $$$ will solve the problem, there seems to be a obvious attempt to waste mass tax $$$ on projects that have little gains for the reason but lines the pockets of certain contractors. Why not take the mass project $$$ to renovate and build newer fish hatcheries to transplant stocks because this actually might work and state could not apply for federal endangered species act $$$ to squander, this seems to be the ignorant wreckless course that waste mass tax $$$ on small creeks with very little gains and do very little for the big rivers that have substained huge fish stocks in the past until over harvesting by netting was allowed so fed $$$ can be collected.Wa state fish stocks will continue to plunder in rivers-creeks under radical hypocrite leaders.
So this is how the deep state carries out reparations...the corruption is the same all across the nation...even worse here because of our small county and population.
The dems have captured / corrupted the voting system so how does anyone think we can rectify any of this through a 'democratic' process.
The 'Indians' are going to completely control the economy (already do apparently).
See the picture of Ron Allen at the hotel if you want to see evil personified.
He is not after justice but vengeance. This is the way of a Godless World.
I am a historical supporter of tribal rights and a current supporter of equal rights for all. I admire what the Jamestown Tribe has accomplished and their contributions to the community. That said; the price of a National guilty conscience for any past transgressions has been paid in full. It remains unnoticed that Tribal communities take full advantage of transportation, sanitation, manufacturing, communication, technology and many other non-tribal inventions and improvements. None of those living improvements can be credited to aboriginal creation. I do not begrudge these benefits to tribal members. I do take issue with their having both my native born entitlements and special additional rights that I do not. To abbreviate this rant; why do Tribal owned gas stations pay less tax ? That is a very honest, sincere and equitable question - - - why ? Be reminded that the ancestral history of each and every one of us includes waring, conquering and unfair treatment. Prior to European settlement aboriginal tribes wared, killed and captured each other. Perhaps the aboriginal tribes of British Columbia should be paying Jamestown Tribe's fuel taxes or some portion there-of.
Sounds like a loud protest needs to happen out in front of Ron Allen's home on Hendrickson road. You know ..the nice one with all the fancy rockwork and landscaping. That man is turning into a tyrant. Doesn't he also want to force people out of their homes along three crabs and Jamestown road? Homes they bought and paid for with their own hard earned money? He absolutely needs to be stopped. The people who want an end to this nonsense far outnumber the blind sheep following him and Ozias. It's time to stand up and show them their bullying will no longer be tolerated. The tribes need to pay their fair share of taxes. Maybe boycotting anything tribal owned is in order. If they can't pay their fair share or play nice then the taxpayers funding their nonsense need to stop spending money at tribal businesses.
Boycotting the Tribe would work, but people who are hurting economically go for the best deal. The Tribe underbids and wins. Or....we don't know what businesses they own, it's a big secret and a big surprise how many fingers they have in the Port Angeles pie.
Wa state officials get on their knee's for tribes, voter support is expected by favors, only state and tribes can run big gambling, lot's of state grant $$$,tax exemptions, state uses tribes to decimate fish stocks so state can apply for fed grant $$$ect ect ect.

Ron Allen’s comments sounds like he’s been watching to much Yellowstone…. He’s aloud mouth bully.
Well written! Money for thee but not for CC...
Thanks. That should have been the title of the article.
Another excellent exposé, Jeff. THANK YOU!

No more impact and user fee freebies. Use a road pay for a road.
LOL, let's put toll roads on all roads into and out of Tribal property. There may be more ways to skin a cat.

The old saying 'give them an inch and they'll take a mile' is appropriate...but what can be done?
If the new admin. in D.C. is able to counter some of the corruption that's great but it is all theory and possibility at this point.
Focus on Truth, Justice, Liberty if you want Peace.
