DLTA organizes before commissioners' meeting today
Towne Road opponents aim to derail progress
A week ahead of the next scheduled “Towne Road Update” on March 4th, those dissatisfied with a trail/road compromise plan to pressure commissioners to change course and keep Towne Road closed forever. DLTA (Dungeness Levee Trail Advocates) sent the following email late last night:
Last week, a day after the DLTA rally, supporters of Towne Road were able to counter opponents by providing the information that seemingly was not presented at the rally — mainly that the levee surface is a roadbed, not a trail, and it was always designed and funded to restore a historic link between Dungeness and Sequim.
If you are able to attend today’s meeting either in person or via Zoom, we can show that a majority still supports the commissioners’ December 26th resolution to surface and reopen Towne Road to traffic by the end of the 2024 construction season.

They're not going to rest until they've sold their greenwashing story to get tax-funded private gates OR, God willing, we ALL get to drive over New Towne Road any time we want. If the road stays closed, the county would have to strictly limit what these people do with their land. Imagine Eberle trying to restart a retail business of any type. His clients would be using his private, gated access to OUR road. The county would be funding a private business. How does that fly? Another lawsuit waiting to happen.
This is terrible news from a small group. We walk that area almost daily and hardly see anyone out there. Most of the time during the week there are only one or two people. A small path would be just fine. I'd like to have some pavement there to take some our disabled friends either by car or their wheelchairs.
