Thanks for your dedication on this issue. These people seem to be part of the New World Order and Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum remaking the world in their image and likeness. The 'Tribe' is a money laundering operation where many millions of dollars (beyond gambling proceeds) are plowed into acquisition and control of diverse key properties. It's not the 'natives' who own all this real estate, it's wealthy secretive oligarchs 'building back better'. The secrecy and duplicity is repugnant...see JFK's speech from the early 60's that got him killed. The due processes for redress have been hijacked. Ozias et.al. are not good people. Special interests lying and stealing behind a veil of secrecy. Corruption must stop. Ozias, Johnson need to be removed from their public/secret positions. The 'tribe' is all powerful at this time and they do 'good works' but are corrupt to the core. I hope truth prevails.

You're very welcome, Robert. The corruption, secrecy, and lying seems to be a pattern here.

The Tribe is barely 350 members strong yet has enormous sway over the entire peninsula, because of their CEO's long-standing association with Steve Tharinger--dating back to the 1970's when they lived together in a Hippie house (since demolished to make way for the new levy with a hefty premium paid out to Tharinger for the buy out of the property).

BTW: Tharinger is Chair of the Finance Committee in Olympia where all those millions of dollars in grants to the Tribe comes from. Those millions of dollars are used to influence politicians and business owners alike here in Clallam County. And let's not forget the huge profits realized from the MAT clinic at taxpayer expense. I like and admire the Tribe for their Xmas lights. Everyone talks about them. And they truly have the best clinic in town (they will probably cancel me as a patient for writing this) but Ron Allen is hell bent on a land grab with the dream of owning Sequim. But if we say these truths we are "racist." More people need to stand up and fight against this latest land grab, if no other reason than because it's your tax dollars that are paying for it.

So, you're saying that an organization that represents 1.5% of the population of District #1 has this much influence over the county commissioner who took an oath to represent all of us "faithfully and impartially?" Wow Gayle, that really puts things in perspective... thanks for the data.

Thanks Gayle. We are a microcosm of the massive corruption happening around the world. Wealth, pleasure and power are running the world...but not everyone IN the world...We confronted Ozias about the lockdown and were told our facts were 'high level misinformation'. Our voting system is corrupt and most people seem to be in a trance or apathetic so we can only work towards building a parallel society of folks with high and good values supporting and encouraging each other as Rome burns. Thanks for your contribution. Robert

The more I know the madder I get! Where the hell have Commissioners Johnson and French been? It is well past time for them to step up and explain themselves as well...were they going to sit on their asses and let Ozias do his thing?

This stuff is so outrageous, sometimes I wonder if the other commissioners are even aware. I know they make a point of never being together outside of a commissioner's meeting (unless they serve on the board of the public pool or go to another event). It's quite alarming when the residents of District #1 depend on the commissioners of Districts 2 and 3 to represent their interests in public safety.

Just a few random thoughts after watching all this unfold.

Having a view to the levee from my back yard and having worked outside in that yard most of the day on New Year's day, there weren't "hundreds of people" on the levee on New Year's Day. Maybe, just maybe almost fifty different walkers with dogs offleash for the better part of the day. If someone fabricates the small things, it doesn't bode well for the larger truths.

One also has to wonder if Ozias realizes who he has hitched his wagon to in this concern? And I don't mean the tribe.

I like and respect the tribe. They do a lot of good things for our community. No doubt if the road was going to 7 Cedars, they'd be fighting to get it open. No judgment there. It's understandable.

Finally, it is somewhat humorous to think about a "save the levee" website as that levee is not going anywhere. They built it for the 500 year flood, remember?

This whole debacle lands squarely on the commisioners. Primarilyl Ozias but there should be checks and balances against one commissioner being able to completely derail a multi-million dollar project that serves the greater good of the county community. Shame on Ozias, to be sure.

The only thing I disagree with is that this should be delivered during public comment and not left to languish deep in a comment thread. It succinctly states so many strong points and I wish more people could read/hear your words. Please consider emailing it to the Commissioners or giving it in person or Zoom. Thank you A. Johnson!

Reading the DLTA website makes it clear what the motive is: “This pathway has the potential to become a significant landmark… This area, crucial to Sequim communities and Clallam County, holds significant potential as a tourism asset. With its restoration, the floodplain is poised to become a premier bird-watching destination, rivaling the likes of Skagit Valley.… Nature-based tourism in protected areas like this can significantly bolster local economies…”

Sounds like DLTA want to turn it into a nature preserve, have gates in place, and charge for entry. Like the National Park Service does. The National Parks are loved to death and often crushed by visitation. It’s always been a fine balance between conservation and exploitation. Someone who truly believes in conservation wouldn’t promote tourism and increased visitation.

The above comment crystalizes so much about the possible motives, back-room dealing, and influence surrounding Towne Road... I can't quit thinking about what you extracted from the website. Bravo, Morgan.

Jeff, I posted a link to this article yesterday on nextdoor. Are there more dirty dealings continuing on Towne Road? Bri Eberle and others stated Towne Road is NOT a done deal and more people and agencies are now involved.

Yikes. Normally, a person of her nature would be immediately discredited due to past behavior, but she and her husband have been in closed-door meetings with the County since at least 2015 and have been privy to information that the rest of us haven't had access to. That doesn't help you much, but I find her statement unsettling.

It would seem from today's comment period that "he who shall remain nameless" is taking this statewide. I'm expecting the DOE or a lawsuit from an environmental group to put this whole thing on hold for Ummmm.........3years or more

Do you disbelieve someone who has peddled so much misinformation, or do you believe them because they are privy to closed door meetings? A conundrum for sure.

I’m not down with hating on the Tribe. I did some digging on the DLTA website registration and signs point to the Eberles, not the Tribe. I can provide that data, but it is circumstantial evidence. If Ccwatchdog.com is becoming the new SOS, count me out.

I want the road to be finished. I don’t need an enemy to hate or conspiracy theories to follow down a rabbit hole. This is squarely on Ozias. All he needed to do was finish the project as planned. All of this has been an unforced error on his part.

I haven't heard anyone linking this to SOS, Lynne, nor have I heard anyone hating on the Tribe. I grew up in Jamestown and the tribal members I know, my neighbors, are pillars of the community -- I aspire to be as generous, civic-minded, and gracious as they are. If people use the term "The Tribe," I don't think they are talking about Tribal members, I think they are talking about the business model, driven by tribal leaders (who are made up of a variety of ethnicities) that bring in excess of $100,000,000 in annual revenue. I think when one "corporation" does that much business in a rural county of 77,000 there are bound to be some questions about checks and balances when it comes to influence and power. I think people are just looking for answers and, without accurate information coming from the big players involved, we are eager to look at the data and form our own theories. If you have data about that website, I'd be happy to see it.

Jeff, I emailed you the ‘dig’ info on the DLTA website for your perusal.

Thanks for sending that, Lynne... your contact could have saved me months of digging (I bet your friend is a techy who knew how to root around much better than I). That said, I have discovered all those links and sources on my own. I did know that Derrick manages the petition, and I found in public records where he submitted it to the county. I have a lot to say about that petition, but I'll save it :) I still don't see the direct connection from DLTA to the Eberles. My opinion, nothing more, is that the Eberles did not author the content on DLTA's website. I've read many of Derricks emails to the county, and Bri's posts on ND and her correspondence with the county, and the "style" just doesn't match for me. I suspect DLTA's content was created by another source and that they asked the Eberles to collect the photos. I believe that, once Bri obtained the photos, she put a watermark on them to credit the photographer (and that's why you see a name on some of them). Unfortunately, until someone take a trip into the "dark web", I think we are still just left with theories and circumstantial evidence. Please thank your friend for me, that was quite a bit of research and I appreciated that it reconciled what I had found. PS: Let me know if I overlooked something!

Jeff, “dark web” is not relevant in this scenario. None of the actors in this drama are performing there, I promise! My message was that the Towne Rd Farm people (TRFP) with a private gate (WAPG) to Towne road (TRFPWAPGTTR) are behind the DLTA website and possibly borrowed text from allies for convenience, or were given text by the same. My point is, don’t conflate without proof. Whoever is doing the Tacoma Landscaping site is most likely doing the DLTA site with whatever content they can grab. I do appreciate your investigative nature, but recommend not spending too much time on this angle. Just my .02

There was someone on here saying that the SGGL was a bunch of communists who threatened her life 🤷 I can only speak for myself: I was opposed to SOS and its nimby mentality. I am pro finishing Towne Rd. As a cyclist, I’m opposed to reopening the gravel pit in Happy Valley. As an environmentalist, I’m pro North Olympic Land Trust, even if cows can be somewhat bad for the environment. I’m a solar powered, EV driving, bicycle riding liberal navy veteran who tries to live lightly on the land. Why do I want that road opened? Because we already spent $20m on it and it belongs to all of us, as taxpayers.

The Eberles’ sense of entitlement goes against the grain of fairness for the community, but it’s Ozias who has lost the plot and must rectify his mistake.

Thanks for the backup, Nora.

Jeff, several comments on this thread are throwing shade on the tribe and its efforts to improve our community. Are they throwing in with the Eberles and Ozias on this? Perhaps. But I don’t think they’re driving it. Even if they were, it is Mark Ozias’ job to see to the completion of the road as planned. It really all rests with him and the 2 other commissioners to finish the job.

I agree. I have always loved the Tribe. At least the people I know. Having second thoughts for several reasons. But for now it sure looks like whomever the Commissioner is bidding for he has made a mess.

Having come to it a bit late a couple of months ago via 'nextdoor' (a multi-billion$ international data-mining enterprise with a serious 'Big Brother' vibe ;-) I've been following this with a certain admiration. Gotta hand it to you, Mr. Tozzer, you do love to:

https://youtu.be/pl9gZSIZqmQ?t=77

Submitted in sympathy to the Eberles, the Tribe (who seem to be functioning in true American capitalist fashion--what do you expect, after all is said and done?) and lastly to Mr. Ozias, who I am more inclined to think is acting in good faith, but poor judgement, and the optics ain't so good.
